About the Business
Welcome to the Auckland Performing Arts Academy, located at 50 Dominion Street in Auckland, New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to providing exceptional performing arts education to students of all ages and skill levels.
Our upcoming program, LEGALLY BLONDE, is a fabulously fun and award-winning musical based on the beloved movie. Follow the journey of Elle Woods as she challenges stereotypes and navigates scandal in pursuit of her dreams. This action-packed production is filled with memorable songs and dynamic dances, offering a variety of roles for students aged 9 to 21, as well as chorus roles for students aged 7 and over.
The LEGALLY BLONDE program will commence on Saturday, July 22, and culminate with four exciting performances on December 15, 16, and 17, 2023, at the ASB Waterfront Theatre. We welcome students of all levels to audition for lead and featured roles, regardless of the original age of the character in the script. Additionally, there will be chorus roles available for students in school year 3 and above. We aim to double-cast all named roles, ensuring equal opportunities for all our talented students.
At the Auckland Performing Arts Academy, we understand the importance of family support. That's why we offer a 10% sibling discount on registration fees for all siblings in the family who attend our programs.
Our rehearsals take place at the Mairangi Bay School Hall on Galaxy Drive in Mairangi Bay. Rehearsal times vary depending on the age group and level, with West End and Broadway levels 1, 2, and 3 having designated times throughout the week. Additionally, we hold training workshops at the Windsor Park Church on East Coast Road, where Broadway students can enhance their musical theatre skills.
Please note that show week, which falls at the end of Term 4, may require some students to take time off from school. However, we believe that the experience gained from participating in our productions is invaluable for their artistic growth.
Semester 2 runs from July 22 to December 17, with an orientation and first rehearsal scheduled for Saturday, July 22. Auditions and dance calls for the Dance Troupe will take place on Saturday, August 12. We also have exciting events such as a program photoshoot on November 12 and a potential rehearsal day on December 10.
During Theatre/Production Week, from December 13 to 17, full cast rehearsals will be held at St Joseph's School Hall on Dominion Street in Takapuna and Mairangi Bay Primary School Hall.
If you would like to receive more information about our upcoming programs or be notified when registrations open for our February 2024 program, please email us at info@apaa.nz. We look forward to welcoming you to the Auckland Performing Arts Academy, where dreams come to life on stage.

"Our granddaughter is now on her 5th production with APAA. It is the best opportunity we could have ever given her as she has grown in confidence in the last three years. Her highlight of the week is attending APAA. She loves it so much! The professionalism and the directorship of APAA is exceptional. They select highly talented teachers in all facets of musical theatre. They are extremely good with children of all ages and communicate well. As a family we love to watch the children perform on stage and APAA produce outstanding shows every time."
"APAA has given both of my children the incredible opportunity to be part of a professional and immensely entertaining stage production (Cats, 2022). The way the APAA team bring the children of all ages together on stage is amazing, and they do so with such passion and dedication! We are now onto our second production (Grease) and the whole family is excited about the shows at the end of the year! We will no doubt be with APAA for years to come! Thank you x"
"The APAA team are very professional, great communicators and talented, dedicated staff and teachers of all the 3 core areas Muscial Theatre in dance, singing and acting. My 10 year old daughter is into her 3rd production with the team after first watching The Sound of Music production. She has been hooked ever since. I look forward to seeing the final performances each semester and recommend getting your kids involved in APAA if they have an interest in theatre or even if they wish to lift their confidence and life skills. If not, I also recommend just getting along to enjoy one of the performances and enjoying the shows as part of the audience."
"Our daughter has only been astudent of APAA for six months, but she loves it so much. In the short time she has been there, my daughter has learnt so much that she could not achieve with the other music schools she has attended before. Every performance is a time for all the children to shine. We are amazed at how far we have come in just six months and our daughter has already asked for ongoing enrolment. We look forward to seeing the changes in development and skills in the year ahead. An amazing class and an amazing teacher."
"APAA provides the most phenomenal experience for the students, I couldn’t recommend the programme enough. The shows are beyond belief, it’s easy to forget you are watching kids it is so professional. The experience through the semester is very well-organised and provides the students with so much opportunity to build their skills, I would go as far to say it’s changed my sons life."
