Maternal and Child Health Centre 154 Curlewis Street, Swan Hill, Victoria 3585
About the Business
Welcome to the Maternal and Child Health Centre in Swan Hill, Australia! Our establishment is dedicated to providing free primary health services to all families with children aged from birth to school age. Our team of MCH nurses, who are registered general nurses with qualifications in midwifery and maternal and child health, ensure that health and development checks are completed, immunizations are discussed, and families are connected to appropriate resources and services. We also have Enhanced MCH Workers with backgrounds in allied health or early childhood.
At our centre, we work closely with families to support their individualized needs and help them thrive. We understand the importance of accessing the necessary services and ensuring that the voices of children are heard as our community develops. To assist in this journey, we provide the My Health, Learning and Development book (the green book) to every newborn child in Victoria. This book contains valuable information about supporting families, your child's growth and health record, as well as appointment and immunization records. Please remember to bring the green book with you to every MCH visit.
Please note that our Maternal and Child Health Centre is a 'well baby' clinic. To protect the health of all infants and families, we kindly request that you refrain from visiting the centre if you or your child are sick.
In addition to our main centre in Swan Hill, we also have other locations to serve the community. These include Lake Boga Preschool on Lalbert Road, the Community Centre on 1 Wattle Street South in Manangatang, and the Children's Centre on Lloyd Street in Nyah West. Each of these locations provides the same high-quality care and support for families.
For families who may need some extra support, we offer the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Service. Referrals for this service are made by your Maternal and Child Health nurse. Additionally, first-time parents are invited to join new parents groups, where they can meet and socialize with other parents and babies while receiving valuable health and parenting information. These sessions cover topics such as sleep and settling, infant nutrition, baby massage, common childhood illnesses, childhood safety awareness, and postnatal physiotherapy.
We also understand the importance of playgroups for children. These playgroups provide opportunities for children to interact with others, develop social skills, and have fun while parents can connect with other families and develop their own parenting skills. It's a wonderful way to engage with our Maternal and Child Health staff informally.
We want to ensure that we are accessible to families at all times. That's why we offer a 24-hour telephone service staffed by qualified maternal and child health nurses who can provide information and advice to all families with young children.
To make our services even more convenient, we have developed the Maternal and Child Health app (MCH app). This free app provides reliable information tailored to the age of your child, right at your fingertips! You can also track your child's growth, receive reminders about upcoming MCH appointments or immunizations, and benefit from Nora, our digital assistant who can answer your questions any time of the day. The app is available in multiple languages, including Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Dari, Khmer, Persian, Punjabi, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Your feedback is essential to us as we strive to continuously improve our services and the information provided on this page. We value your input and encourage you to share your thoughts with us.
Thank you for choosing the Maternal and Child Health Centre in Swan Hill. We are here to support you and your family every step of the way.
