"It was a little quiet on this particular Saturday in the Bendigo Marketplace and so was Jamaica Blue. We arrived for lunch and had the pick of tables. Food was ok. A little portion compared to something like the Coffee Club (?) yet prices were about the same. Service was efficient without enthusiasm, I felt. Should I have gone to Rex Espresso?"
"An update from this review from 4 months ago, It’s obvious it’s changed hands or just staff because the food is now over priced but I will say the coffee is still good so it’s gone from 4/5 stars to 2/5! Club sandwich is the boom! Best to try this sandwich but I’d say the coffee was very milky and not that good, hence the 1 star missing from my rating. Ambiance and service was top notch so it’s a shame about that coffee but maybe some people like it like that?"
"I asked if they made thickshakes and was told they do. I ordered a camarel thickshake but when it arrived it was a weak milkshake. One of the two people I was dining with returned it to the counter stating it wasn't a thickshake. After they returned to our table I decided to leave as I had already wasted my money. However, the owner/manager than approached my friend, leant down to put her hands on the table and then proceeded to verbally attack her whilst blowing her absolutely disgusting breath in her face. The attitude this lady showed was unprofessional, bordered on assault and was completely unjustified. If only I could give a lower rating!"
"Understaffed, extreme wait time, food does not worth the price. 3 very dry thin piece of chicken on a bland noodle salad for $18.5? They should either hire more staff or shouldn’t serve that many options."
"What a truly negative experience! Bad service, parts of the order missing and a ridiculous wait time for food! My partner and I came to Jamaica Blue with four of her family members for breakfast this morning. We ordered: 3 x eggs benidict 1 x French toast 2 x big breakfasts Plus coffees for the 6 of us. The ordering process was as straightforward as at any Cafe and the coffees came out within a reasonable amount of time, it was at this point that any resemblence of "good service" finished. All the food was brought out, plate by plate, over a 45 minute period. All of the eggs benidict had sides of avocado which wasn't brought out with the meals. When we asked the table staff about said avocado the immediate response was "did you order some?!??" which I felt was rude and unnecessary. When it got to the point that everyone else had finished their meals and two people where still yet to receive their breakfasts I approached the counter and asked if the rest of the food was still coming out. The bloke behind the counter did apologise but said "we only have a small grill and can't cook much at once". I found this especially frustrating, should I have known this we would have gone a different cafe who can get the basics right (like serving the whole table at the same time). What's most disappointing was the food, it was average at best. My poached eggs were overcooked, my hollandaise sauce was curdled. All in all the food wasn't worth the money spent or the time wasted waiting. Considering you can have a meal to a similar or better quality for the same price point, at somewhere like the coffee club, I wouldnt bother with this establishment."
