About the Business
Welcome to Riverside High School, a prestigious Year 7 to 12 institution located on the stunning West Tamar River in Australia. With approximately 800 enrolments, our school is committed to providing every student with opportunities to achieve personal excellence.
At Riverside High School, we prioritize the development of students' knowledge, skills, and understandings through engaging and relevant learning opportunities. Our core values of Courage, Aspiration, Respect, and Endeavour shape the culture of our school and guide our students towards success.
Established in 1962, Riverside High School has earned an enviable reputation statewide, thanks to the accomplishments of our students in various academic, sporting, and cultural pursuits. Many of our former students have gone on to achieve great success in fields such as business, politics, education, performing arts, and sports.
Our dedicated and passionate teachers are committed to evidence-based teaching practices that ensure every student is engaged, challenged, and learning successfully. Collaborative planning and delivery of curriculum, guided by the Gradual Release Model and Riverside High School Quality Teaching Framework, guarantee that students have clear learning intentions and success criteria. Students understand the purpose of their learning and how to achieve success.
The Leadership Team at Riverside High School communicates clear expectations regarding evidence-based teaching strategies and works closely with teachers to evaluate and improve teaching practices. Our teachers use data to inform their practice and provide regular feedback to students to enhance their learning experience. We have an Assessment and Reporting Framework in place to guide the learning and achievement of all students.
We believe in the power of partnerships, and our school has formed strong connections with families, local businesses, and community organizations to enhance student engagement and improve outcomes. Families are integral members of the Riverside High School community, and we work alongside them to provide meaningful and responsive learning opportunities for all students.
Creating a safe and connected learning environment is a top priority for us. Students who feel secure and valued are more likely to engage in their learning. Our teachers provide support, extracurricular programs, and a positive sense of culture and identity to meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of our students. Restorative practices are embedded in our ways of working.
In addition to a comprehensive range of subjects, Riverside High School offers a variety of extracurricular programs, including music and drama activities, art exhibitions, and sports teams. We are proud of our commitment to challenging and extending students, and our achievements in Science Challenges, Maths Relays, Apex Fashion Awards, the Frank MacDonald Prize, MUNA, and other competitions are a testament to this commitment. We also prioritize the development of students' leadership potential, with the majority of our students undertaking leadership training during their time here.
Our school has recently completed a major redevelopment, featuring contemporary classrooms, specialist areas, a new Administrative Office, Library, and Café facility. The newly landscaped grounds and social spaces create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for our students.
We understand that the transition to high school can be a source of anxiety for parents, carers, and students. We hope that the information provided, along with our various transition activities, will assist in making the transition as smooth as possible.

"Overall good standard of education but I once saw someone eat a nail in class"
"This movie was the best. Five rotten tomatoes for sure. The drama. The love interest. How he never got the girl as she moved away. It was very moving. My favourite part was when they finally found the dog. The saddest part was how the dog was dead."
"What a fantastic school! Five stars for sure! Almost as great at the Batman movie! Batman staring Micheal Keaton as Batman/Bruce Wayne and me Jack Nicholson playing Joker/Jack Napier! The Dark Knight of Gotham City begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being the clownishly homicidal Joker."
