The story of Beenleigh Artisan Distillery begins in 1884, when fate brought an abandoned steamboat called the SS Walrus to the shores of 'Beenleigh', a sugarcane property on the Albert River. On board this vessel lay a magnificent copper still, which would soon become the catalyst for a remarkable journey. John Davy and Francis Gooding, the cane growers who discovered this treasure, wasted no time in utilizing it to distill their own spirit from the sugarcane on their property.

Today, almost 140 years later, Beenleigh Rum continues to be crafted at the very same riverside location. Proudly holding the title of Australia's oldest registered distillery, it possesses the esteemed 'Number 1' licence in the country.
