About the Business
Welcome to Lenah Valley RSL, located at 188 Lenah Valley Road in Lenah Valley, Tasmania. Our institution is a bar, establishment, food point of interest, and restaurant, offering a variety of services and amenities for our valued members and visitors.
At Lenah Valley RSL, we take pride in our commitment to honoring and supporting our veterans and their families. We recently hosted the Vietnam Veterans' Association of Australia - Greater Hobart Sub-Branch to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. The event was attended by esteemed guests, including Her Excellency the Governor, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and local politicians such as Mr. Andrew Wilkie MP and the Hon Elise Archer MP, who is also a club member.
ANZAC Day holds a special place in our hearts, and we celebrate it with great enthusiasm. Our recent ANZAC Day event was a tremendous success, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our volunteers, staff, and generous supporters. We were honored to have The Honourable Josh Willie, MLC, deliver a powerful address at the main service, reminding us of the bravery and sacrifice of our Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
In addition to these important commemorative events, we also organize various activities to raise funds for our Lenah Valley RSL welfare fund. One such event is the Tasmanian RSL Golf Challenge, held annually at the Claremont Golf Club. This 18-hole Ambrose event brings together golf enthusiasts for a day of friendly competition while supporting a worthy cause.
We were thrilled to welcome Guy Barnett MP, Minister for Veterans Affairs, during his visit to Lenah Valley RSL. Minister Barnett launched the `Teddy' Sheean Memorial Grants Program - Round 2, highlighting the importance of supporting veterans and their families.
Remembrance Day is another significant occasion for us, where we pay tribute to the signing of the Armistice that ended World War 1. Our commemorative event in 2022 was attended by over 100 people, with Chaplain Paul Crennan delivering the opening and closing prayers, and our Secretary, Josh Weir, reciting the Ode.
We also take pride in remembering our past members who were prisoners of war. Many of them were part of the 2/40 Australian Infantry Battalion, comprising mainly Tasmanian Servicemen. While the list may be incomplete, we honor their service and sacrifice.
Lenah Valley RSL is not just a place for commemoration and remembrance; it is also a family-friendly club that welcomes new members and visitors. Our bistro offers delicious meals, and our friendly atmosphere fosters lasting friendships. Since 1946, we have been a pillar of support for former and serving Australian Defence Force members and their families. With your continued support, we will continue to play a vital role in local community events.

"Very friendly staff and service. Good range of food. Fair prices. Parking on site Easy access. Greatest tray prizes. Will go again."
"Quite a nice venue with a very comfortable atmosphere. The place is much larger inside than what it looks from the street. Although I primarily went there to eat I would quite easily consider going there for a regular drink as it feels quite friendly and relaxed. Walk past the bar room to get to the bistro room where your greeted by a friendly staff member. Quickly scanning the menu I decided on trying the Chicken Bisco with roast vegetables and covered in a creamy sauce. It came to around $25 which I feel is reasonable for the size of the meal. The food tasted delicious and we didn't have to wait too long. There's parking outside but it can fill up and the place can get booked out so I'd strongly advise calling ahead to book a table. All the usual amenities are available and there's even a kiddies section in the bistro to keep themselves amused."
"Great reasonable meals. Friendly staff eager to help."
"Fantastic, well priced food. Family friendly and great customer service. I'll be back."
"They know how to cook a steak. There is a proper chef in the kitchen (not just someone's mum who can cook) sending out all the familiar old favourites very, very well. Below average prices. If laminex tables and pictures of the queen don't offend you, take your hat off at the door!"
