About the Business
Welcome to Saint Ignatius College Geelong, a leading co-educational Jesuit Companion School located in the beautiful Curlewis area of the Bellarine Peninsula in Australia. Our institution, situated at 27 Peninsula Drive, is not only a point of interest but also a reputable school that provides outstanding educational opportunities to young women and men from Years 7 to 12.
At Saint Ignatius College, we believe in creating a co-educational environment where our students can share educational experiences and leadership opportunities. Through this, they learn to understand, respect, and appreciate one another, preparing them for life beyond school. Our goal is to provide deep and meaningful learning experiences while setting high expectations for our students. We strive to offer a supportive and caring environment that maximizes student achievement.
As a co-educational Catholic college, we follow the Ignatian (Jesuit) tradition of educating the whole person, encompassing the mind, body, and spirit. We believe in nurturing our students' holistic development, ensuring they grow academically, spiritually, and emotionally within a positive and caring Christian community.
We warmly welcome students from across Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula to our upcoming VCE Lecture Series, which will be held during the Term 3 holidays. This series offers an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and excel in their studies.
Exciting news for our institution is that construction of our new MacKillop Senior School Centre will commence on August 1, 2022, with site shed preparation. We anticipate the completion of this state-of-the-art building on January 20, 2024. This new facility will provide our students with even more exceptional learning spaces and resources.
In addition, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our 2023 Parents and Friends Mega Raffle, offering almost $9000 in prizes. With six prizes up for grabs, there is something for everyone. All proceeds from this raffle will go towards student resources at the college, so not only can you win fantastic prizes, but you can also contribute to the betterment of our students' education. The prize draw will take place at 2:30 PM on Monday, September 4th, 2023.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of our Year 12 students on their achievements. A special shout-out goes to our 2022 College Dux, Sam Hines, who achieved an impressive ATAR of 99.4. "St. Ignatius is a Wonderful School. Our daughter started there this year and has found it a fabulous experience. She says that all the Teachers, Staff and Students are all Wonderful and she has also made a lot of great new friends and is very very happy there. My wife and I cannot recommend the School highly enough!"
"Saint Ignatius College has provided my children with a great all round education. I have had three children complete Yr 12 who achieved their goals through both the VCE & the VCAL program. My kids are all quite different and were each treated and respected for the individuals that they are. The teachers are caring, knowledgeable and kind. Respectful relationships were established between the kids and their teachers and each one has left the College with a core group of good friends along with the skills they needed. Quality facilities, quality teachers with quality results. I couldn't be happier with the decision to send the kids to St Iggies."
"I dropped out of st ignatius this year, but i only attended 2 weeks in total the entire year. The reasoning for this was because the school did nothing to help my mental health issues that I had informed them about MANY times, they prioritise ‘ looking good’ and just getting more money. I would go to the principles office about once a week being told off for having another little stud in my ear, and for that they would always punish me but when i went to them to tell them about my anger problems and things happening with kids around the school ( including a assault) and just not feeling welcome at this school by any teacher and they just would send me off back to class and do nothing to help resolve this constant issue i was having. I’m also a very confident person is justice and fairness equality. Let me tell you once one teacher mentions your name your the target the entire rest of your school life. Since year 8 I had always been the one in my class FULL of girls wearing jewellery to be taken out on by teachers. I understand this was a rule but if your going to aim for someone who has told you about their issues with people raising their voices at them. That displays how this school actually cares about their students. They also lack supporting and teaching students how to be kind, once again since year 8 whilst I attended I had rumours made, terrible things said about me and not once did a teacher ever do anything about this, even though they say they hear everything in the school. Therefore this is why I believe St Ignatius is a school that only cared about displaying neat private school kids, but the unbelievable ridiculous price for this school + them trying to charge my family 3 terms that i did not attend. Is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Do better"
"Emailed the school about 2 months ago to get someone to contact me about enrolling. No response. Called and left a message and it took 3 weeks for them to get back to me. After finally speaking to them, the response I got “sorry enrolments have already closed” Are you actually serious? I had been told not to bother sending my child there, I definitely will not be now"
"Overall both of my children have had quite bad experiences at this high school. Not only have they received lack of support from the teachers, but the students have not been set boundaries and have not been taught how to respect each other. My eldest has been to two other high schools before Saint Ignatius and she has had no problems fitting in. However, the moment she arrived at Saint Ignatius she found it very difficult. Not only did her grades drop due to the lack of support by teachers but she also struggled to find friends due to the overall bullying and judgement from the other children."
