Welcome to Traditional Shito Ryu Karatedo, located in Woodrising on Hayden Brook Road. As an establishment and point of interest, we are dedicated to teaching and preserving the art of Shito Ryu Karate in New South Wales, Australia.
At our institution, we believe that karate is a lifetime study, and we are committed to taking our students on this transformative journey. Our 4th Dan instructor, Neil Smith, is a highly experienced Sensei who has dedicated over 35 years to the study of martial arts. With a wealth of knowledge, Neil is passionate about passing on his expertise to his students.
In addition to Shito Ryu Karate, Neil also studies Iaido, the traditional Japanese swordsmanship, and Japanese Jujutsu. This diverse background allows him to provide a well-rounded and comprehensive martial arts education to his students.
Joining Neil in teaching the classes at Shito Ryu Karatedo NSW is Sensei Charlotte Smith, a 2nd Dan instructor. Sensei Charlotte is known for her dedication, courtesy, and patience with her students. She approaches karate with a respectful mindset and takes the art form very seriously. Beyond karate, Sensei Charlotte also studies Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo, one of the classical Japanese martial arts.
Our institution has strong ties to the origins of karate, as Sensei Sakagami has trained with two great masters from Okinawa. Sensei Seiko Suzuki, the founder of Seiko-kai Shito Ryu, and Sensei Sato, the founder of Sato-kai Shito Ryu, have influenced our teaching methods and philosophy.
