About the Business
Welcome to Callaghan College Waratah Campus, located at 26 Turton Road in Waratah, Australia. Our institution is an establishment and point of interest, serving as a school for students in the area. We strive to provide a comprehensive education that goes beyond the core curriculum, offering students the opportunity to explore and discover through our stage 5 elective program.
One of the exciting events happening at our campus is the World Literacy Day 2023 - Poster Competition. Students are tasked with creating an A3 poster that promotes and celebrates World Literacy Day and highlights the importance of literacy in creating a peaceful and tolerant world. The competition allows students to showcase their creativity using various design techniques such as collage, painting, monochrome drawing, computer-generated design, or colored pencils. Prizes for the competition include movie tickets and book vouchers, and entries must be submitted by Tuesday, September 5th, with the student's name and year group on the back, handed to Mrs Panozza or Mrs Seferovic.
At Callaghan College Waratah Campus, we are changing the way we talk about learning. Traditionally, Parent-Teacher evenings have been held on one evening during Term 3, with limited time slots allocated to each subject teacher. However, we have received feedback from parents questioning the effectiveness of this process. As a result, we have researched other models and systems and are now introducing Student-led conferencing. These longer sessions allow for a structured conversation between the student, their carer/s, and a staff member to discuss the student's strengths and future possibilities as a learner. These sessions will be held on the 7th and 8th of September 2023, with each session lasting 20-25 minutes. Families are encouraged to book a suitable timeslot via the Sentral Parent Portal, and more information will be provided soon.
We also take part in Education Week, an annual celebration of NSW public education that recognizes the achievements of our schools, teachers, and students. It is a time to showcase the incredible work happening in our institution and across the education system.
Attendance is crucial to a student's success, and we encourage all students to attend school regularly. Absences may seem insignificant, but they add up and can impact a student's learning. Attending school every day ensures that students do not miss out on important lessons and opportunities for growth.
As an institution, we acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the land. We also show respect to Elders, both past and present.

"I signed a note so that I could walk home but when I asked the teacher if I could walk to my house which was five minutes away, she said and I quote ‘no one on my list is allowed to walk’ I then watched from the bus which was taking me 45 minutes away from my house as a student walked off towards her house after consulting the teacher so now I will get home 1.5 hours later then I would have if I walked"
"Good school would be better if there was better English teachers overall 9/11"
"bullies are horrible at this school and the teachers don't do anything about it, I had 3 teachers just watch me receive a death threat in person from another student and didn't bother to say anything, they just stood there watching it happen"
