"Got treated within 5 hours. Nurses were careing , friendly, calming and efficient. Well trained staff. Help was incredable. My opinion, one of the best small local hospitals ive been to."
"Last night was one of the worst hospital experiences I’ve ever had in an ED and this is coming from someone who spent 13 hrs waiting at the ED with their partner who had a seizure and came in an ambulance at the JH. I am TIRED of hearing about how nurses deserve respect and shouldn’t be abused because obviously that’s true but it is SO HARD when they are all so bloody rude and disrespectful themselves! Last night, we were in the ED and a lady came in begging for help out loud before running into the bathroom. There was a nurse at the desk who saw her come in, didn’t say a word or ask her if she was ok and watched her go to the bathroom. It took two other women in the waiting room to go up to the triage nurse and tell them what had happened and that this woman was sick in the bathroom. Once the nurse went in to check on her, she sounded angry at her because she was so sick. I won’t say why she was sick even though we all heard in the waiting room but the nurse decided the best way to care for her was the drag her through the Ed door and threw her onto a bed and said to her very rudely “get on that bed” and the sick girl proceeded to cry and apologise even though she needed immediate attention and hadn’t been rude. My partner saw all of this as he was getting his bloods done when the nurse did this. He was absolutely disgusted by the way this nurse treated this poor woman and also how she spoke to him and many other patients. I don’t get this immediate defensive attitudes nurses have now. I understand you’re overworked and abused but people are coming to the ED when they are at their lowest and need compassion and when you are acting the way you are towards them what do you expect? A thanks? For being rude and showing zero care for your patients. I will never understand why some people become nurses when they lack compassion and empathy. I will literally never come to this hospital again unless I’m literally dying in an ambulance and can’t protest going there. Seriously would rather wait 13 hours at John Hunter."
"Belmont hospital have the most amazing staff. They are such caring, amazing people, both Drs and nurses. My mum is being so very well looked after while she is in there. Thankyou all so much"
"Staff lovely and very caring. Not their fault, but quite busy with long wait. After 2 hours, we were told about Heal Urgent Specialist Care for limb injuries. Nervous about upfront, all-inclusive fee with limited Medicare Rebate, but went due to promise of quick review and treatment. Seen immediately by Nurse, then Doctor, then Physio. Great advice. Left with MRI appointment next working day, likely diagnosis pending MRI results, prescription for pain killers, crutches and knee brace, all in 90 mins. Fee seemed cheap given great value, rapid service and expert advice and treatment, freeing up Emergency Dept for more life threatening cases. Highly recommend going to Heal Urgent Specialist Care if you have a limb injury."
"I recently had an operation at this hospital and had to stay 2 days fir recovery. I would have to say considering the way the former governments, have handled the health system, all people I came into contact at the hospital were fantastic. You should really look at what the previous governments have done before you criticise. Ask yourself how did this happen? The staff are under appreciated, under payed , under staffed and working under pressure. God bless them."
