""Retain Receipt for Exc/Refund" doesn't mean what you think it means. Buy the wrong size? Too bad, so sad (actually, the guy behind the counter was less polite than that). Just lost yourselves a customer - went around the corner and bought the right item at Mitre 10 where I discovered the same brand $2 cheaper and I get a member discount AANNDDD, if it is the wrong size, they WILL do an exchange or refund. UPDATE to their reply: 1. There is no such thing as the "Australian Consumer Law Council" that they refer to below; 2. The item was in heat-sealed packaging that needed a small cut in the back to open in order to access the product. The packaging was neither "destroyed" nor "torn apart" and was original; 3. The item inside was not in a damaged state; 4. I have purchased plenty of items in the past from shops where the item had clearly been opened but the product inside was fine. When the item is in a heat-sealed plastic wrap, it is completely understandable that sometimes the item has to be tried and the only way to do this is to break the seal - unless there's another magical way that I'm not aware of; 5. I've moved on. Having seen this business decline from when I first started going there in the early 1990s, I have seen first-hand how they treat long-term customers and I won't be going there again. There is "following the law to the letter and giving no quarter" and there is "doing the right thing" - these people don't do the right thing."
