"If it was possible, I would give it a zero rather than 1 star. Horrendously bad customer service skills and some staff couldn't understand or speak English, so inherently messed up consecutive orders for about 5 customers one after the other in a queue this afternoon. Went here because they now sell alcohol with your fish and chips, and it was too busy at the Yot. My partner and I ordered 2 single fish and chip packs and repeated our order multiple times. Then we were charged for and given two small chips. After pointing it out to the staff, they told the cashier to charge $5 for a beer so that he could add two cod fish to our chips rather than refund and recharge the correct amount. My mind went straight to money laundering at this point, but it could just be that FOH staff dont actually know the menu, can't understand English, and don't know how to use the register. I was going to purchase some alcoholic beverages but refused to pay money to a place that can do all of the above and not smile, not say please or thankyou, and have complete utter lack of customer service skills and hospitality training. Coming from a hospitality background, I also noticed that they clearly weren't RSA trained, nor did they follow RSA procedures. Served a bottle of cider with a top still on and a can of JD and coke with the can not cracked to my friends - illegal not to open liquor, that is to be drank on premesis, before service, not to mention that the bottle was not a twist top and so required a bottle opener to open. Lucky my friend was able to open it without having to ask. Also seen people walking out of the licensed premises with alcohol in hand, only half drank. Big no! Better make sure you re train your staff in the key areas of Responsible Service of Alcohol and customer service. Food was average but chips had clearly been "refried". Not worth a visit unless you want to argue with a group of staff who have no idea what they're doing."
"Was initially reluctant to try this place after seeing the bad reviews, but we decided to give it a shot after our whale watching tour and were pleasantly surprised. Service was quick and the fish came out crispy and flaky! The fries with chicken salt were a great addition too. Great place for a quick lunch."
"Marco the new owner has really turned the place around. Food is as awesome and we look forward to all the new exciting changes that are coming. Thank you and your team for another great Sunday arvo."
"Horrible service, we originally went there for hamburgers but they said they couldn’t cater to us as they were closing early because apparently they weren’t busy enough which I find super unprofessional- anyway we decided to give the barramundi and chips a go and they were $18. Not badly priced but they surcharged us for everything they could. Charged us for chicken salt, using a card and were just super unfriendly. The fish was greasy and burnt and the chips were too salty, also they overcharge for a puny container of bland tartare sauce. $3 for a couple of teaspoons. The place was very messy for a place that stores and sells seafood, some of the seafood wasn’t even on ice, as far as I’m concerned that’s not great food safety! Stay away from this place."
"The WORST fish and chips I have ever had in my life. If I could give minus 100 stars I would. The fish was dripping in oil, soggy and the batter was horrible. They charged 50 cents for chicken salt and did not say anything prior. They give you 1 teeny tiny wedge of lemon to cut through the grimy food. I was tricked given how busy it is, you would think the food was good. But I might aswell have burnt the $60 it cost for this rubbish."
