"Sold us a dodgy tap with broken aerator casing, had to get the plumber who installed it to identify the issue. Once found, I submitted evidence of the defect and applied for a refund of the faulty product which would offset the call out cost of getting the issue inspected… Josh from BDW wrote a short sentence back saying unable to assist and would not offer any solution. Expecting me to fill out a warranty form when the issue hasn’t yet been identified is unreasonable. Will follow up with QLD Fair Trading and let them sort it."

"We have been dealing with Builders Discount Warehouse on and off since November 2022. Most of the visits have been short and somewhat pleasant. While they have a decent display - we only found one item that matched the theme going through our renovated house. A black sink. It came time to order the sink as our builder (who does not work with Builders Discount Warehouse) is coming up on the kitchen portion of the build. We communicated the sink that we were looking at. He asked, since Builders Discount Warehouse wasn't one of his outlets, that we order in the sink and put it under his name. We did so, about 2 weeks ago over the phone - or so we thought. It was communicated to us by a male team member that there was plenty of stock of the sink in Queensland and it takes a few days to get in - they requested our builders details, which we gave, and also our details, which we gave. We concluded the call, under the impression that the sink was ordered and either ourselves or the builder would receive a call when the sink arrived. Two weeks went by - we assumed the builder received the call, but was busy and didn't communicate it to us. On Saturday, 11 Feb, we went into collect or at least check on the order. We were assisted by a male team member, young, who met us with an attitude that made my skin crawl. He was rude, arrogant and just basically unhelpful. The system was checked - there was no sink in stock or on order. It was at that point another team member came to assist the young man. There was no record of the call or order. Rather than take accountability for the mistake - which we would have understood and moved forward from. The team at Builders Discount Warehouse tried to shift accountability onto us - the customers. Telling us we needed to pay in advance - which was never communicated to us during any of our dealings. It was at that point I walked out - when it was obvious that there was not going to be a solution, negotiation or any kind of common sense. It turns out - this was all a blessing, hence the 2 star review rather than a 1 star review. The team said the special price on the sink was unbeatable - and no further discount would be given. After this encounter - we went home to find an alternate supplier - who was easy to deal with, communicated the purchase process up front and beat the price by over $200. We would not deal with Builders Discount Warehouse again because of this encounter and recommend strongly that the staff undergo additional front of house training. After all it was attitude and tone of voice of the male team member, 11 Feb 23, that lost Builders Discount Warehouse the sale. If you approach situations where things have gone wrong with kindness and patients - even difficult situations can be resolved to everyones satisfaction."
