About the Business
Welcome to Mettams Pool, a stunning establishment located at North Beach, West Coast Drive, 276 in Australia. As a park, point of interest, and tourist attraction, Mettams Pool offers visitors a unique and memorable experience.
Managed by the City of Stirling, Mettams Pool is part of the council's responsibility to oversee and facilitate various activities, promotions, events, competitions, and more along our beautiful coastline. With 7.5km of coastline, reserves, and surf beaches under our care, we take pride in providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all beachgoers.
One of the standout features of the City of Stirling is our year-round lifeguard patrols. As the only council in Western Australia with this service, we prioritize the safety of our community. We ensure that all activities on our beaches and reserves comply with local laws and legislation, requiring approval from the City.
To further enhance emergency response times, the City of Stirling has introduced the Beach Emergency Numbers (BEN) system. BEN signs, located throughout our beaches, are reversible with a uniform red and green sign on the front and a beach closure alert on the back. Each BEN sign features a unique code linked to its location coordinates, making it easy for emergency services to locate incidents. The signs also provide the official location name, address, suburb, and nearest intersection.
For more information on BEN sign locations and beach safety, you can visit the SharkSmart website or download the SharkSmart WA app, which provides near real-time notifications. In case of an emergency, remember to call 000 and quote the unique BEN code and location information on the nearest BEN sign to emergency services. If you spot a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600 and refer to the closest BEN sign.
Our dedicated team of four beach inspectors patrol the City's beaches 365 days a year, ensuring the safety and well-being of all beachgoers. This commitment extends to providing first aid to those in need.
Additionally, the City of Stirling maintains strong links with the Surf Life Saving Association, with two volunteer surf life-saving clubs operating within the City. These clubs offer a voluntary rescue service on weekends and public holidays from October to March each year.
To enhance the comfort level of all beach users, the City of Stirling enforces local and state government laws relating to beaches and bathing. Please note that consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited on any City of Stirling beaches or reserves, with penalties applying.
Mettams Pool is also a venue for various activities such as concerts, promotions, product sampling, weddings, photography, filming, personal training, and outdoor fitness classes. If you are interested in booking a coastal reserve or beach, please complete the reserves and beaches booking form.
We are located at the Administration Centre, 25 Cedric Street, Stirling WA 6021, and our office hours are from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm.
Lastly, the City of Stirling acknowledges the traditional custodians of this land, the Wadjak people of the Nyoongar Nation. We pay respect to the Elders, both past and present, as they hold the memories, traditions, culture, and hopes of Aboriginal Australia.
Come and experience the beauty and safety of Mettams Pool, where the City of Stirling strives to provide a safe and attractive environment for all visitors.

"My second visit. Even though the water was a bit rough the showing was great with a large amount of different fish and beautiful rocks. The beach is nice too with she's areas. Good footwear is recommended because of the limestone rocks."
"Pretty spot, good for snorkelling. Toilets and showers close by. Plenty of fish to be seen"
"Lovely beach section if you don’t want a big crowd or a bodyboard/ surf sess. I felt very safe, just be careful as there are some rocks when you first go into the ocean."
"Great view of Perth if you walk down hill about 100 meters you can also have good clear view of south of the river, u would allow 2 or 3 hours to have a good look around, there also loads of plants that are labeled individually to look at, parking and toilets are available in this area. #GoogleMaps, #LocalGuides."
