The story of PJ's Steaks dates back to the early 1930s when Pat, tired of the same old meals, decided to try something different. During lunchtime, he sent his younger brother Harry to fetch him some steak from the local butcher's. Pat then chopped up the steaks on his grill and placed them on a roll. Little did he know that this simple creation would change his life forever.

A local cab driver, who happened to be a friend of Pat's, was curious about what he was eating and insisted on trying it. After just one bite, the cab driver was convinced that Pat should abandon hotdogs and focus on selling this delicious steak sandwich instead. And so, PJ's Steaks was born.

PJ, the founder of our establishment, first encountered the famous Philly cheesesteak while studying in the USA. Inspired by its authentic flavors, he embarked on a global quest to find the perfect spot to introduce this culinary masterpiece. After searching Europe, Asia, and New Zealand, PJ ultimately chose Australia. Why? Because Aussies have a deep love for meat, and their reputation for quality cuts made it the perfect destination. Moreover, PJ knew that there was nothing like his grilled subs in Australia.
