About the Business
Welcome to Tidda Counselling, located at Point Cook, Main Street, 1. As an establishment focused on health and well-being, we provide a safe and supportive environment for you and your child to navigate the key stages of development.
When it comes to counseling young children between the ages of 2 and 12, traditional methods often prove ineffective. At such a young age, children may not yet have the vocabulary to express their feelings. That's where Tidda Counselling steps in. We offer play therapy, a calming and therapeutic space for children to express and work through their emotions in a non-verbal way, using their natural language of play.
Play therapy is an extensively proven, professionally recommended, and evidence-based treatment for children with behavioral, emotional, social, developmental, and/or psychological issues. We believe that every child can express their innermost feelings and challenges through play, and subsequently heal themselves, regulate their own feelings and behaviors, and make long-term improvements to their lives through their own effort.
Founder of play-based therapy, Virginia M. Axline, once said, "Play is the child's natural medium of self-expression." At Tidda Counselling, we embrace this philosophy and offer play therapy not only as a treatment for struggling children but also recommend engaging parents in the same methodology. By doing so, we can create a positive therapeutic environment for your child at home, not just in our playroom.
Our filial therapy and parent coaching programs actively strengthen parent-child relationships, relieve stress from parents, and most importantly, teach parents the skills they need to address any issues their child(ren) may have in a constructive, therapeutic, and age-appropriate manner. We understand that parenting can be challenging, but our programs aim to empower parents and promote healthy family dynamics.
One of our exciting programs is the Lego® Based Therapeutic program for Children. This child-led collaborative group play therapy utilizes the child's interest in construction play and fosters their willingness to collaborate and interact with others. Lego Therapy has proven to be effective for children with Autism, neurodevelopmental conditions, anxiety disorders, phobias, adjustment disorders, ADHD, and depression. The next program starts on July 15, 2023.
Our therapist at Tidda Counselling is Tulin Kocacik, a trained and certified play therapist and counselor with over 5 years of experience. Tulin has worked extensively with families facing complex and challenging needs, trauma, mental health issues, and attachment concerns. She is passionate about helping young children grow into emotionally intelligent and healthy adults, while also strengthening parents' capacity to be understanding and supportive.
Tulin is well-experienced in collaborating with multiple agencies and professionals involved in the child and family's life, ensuring a cohesive and consistent developmental experience. She is also the team leader of Unity Therapeutic Play Group in Victoria, which aims to provide a sense of belonging for families in need of additional support.
At Tidda Counselling, we are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for you and your child to navigate key stages of development. Join us on this journey of growth and healing.

"My child has been visiting Tidda Counselling Play Therapy from past 7 months and the Lego Group Therapy Sessions from past 4 months. I can see a vast improvement in my child's Social Skills, Play Skills, Communication Skills, Vocabulary and showing more interest in wanting to engage and play with other kids. My child used to be introvert and barely spoke few words/phrases in public and I can see that change too. I am super happy with the progress I see ever since we joined Tidda. The therapists involved here come with many many years of experience in this field. Tulin and Barbara are amazing people to work with. It really helps to have someone on board with loads of experience of working with children as they really understand the root cause of any issue."

"I had the pleasure of completing my placement at Tidda Counselling, and I can confidently say that it was an incredible experience. The team at Tidda Counselling specializes in play therapy, EMDR therapy, and Lego therapy for children, and they are all highly skilled and passionate professionals. The play therapy sessions are especially impressive, providing a fun and engaging environment for children to express themselves and develop coping skills. Additionally, the use of Lego in therapy sessions is an innovative approach that helps children develop problem-solving, social, and emotional regulation skills. The team at Tidda Counselling is incredibly caring, compassionate, and professional, providing a safe and supportive space for children and families. I highly recommend Tidda Counselling to anyone seeking support for their child. Thank you, Tidda Counselling, for the exceptional work you do in the community."
"Our son was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old. Tulin has been very warm, very motherly and understanding. Our son is always looking forward to this session with Tulin. Since he started sessions with Tulin, we have seen a lot of progress and changes in his behaviour and development. He started to communicate better, play better, regulate his emotions and behaviour and communicate things in his mind to people around him. The best thing in bringing neurodivergent kids to therapies is that parents like us are also educated and helped us to know our kids more. We learned how to better communicate, help, assist them and play with them in a way that is enjoyable for them and that is best for both kids and us parents. This is therapeutic to us parents as worries for their future gradually diminishes and we can see a more better future for them, more independent, able to express themselves, learn different things, discover their interests and explore the world around them. Tulin has helped us understand our child better and how we can enjoy living and playing with him day by day."
