"The atmosphere and ambiance are always spot on, and the service we have experienced makes one feel as if you are their most important customer. Of course, if the food wasn’t perfectly prepared up to par with the ambiance, we could not give them 5 stars. Obviously, it is. And presentation is spot on. We have not had a bad dish there. We were regulars when we lived there and we are returning to Brisbane soon. We already have bookings!"
"It’s always scary coming in with expectations, unfortunately this was one of those experiences that fuels the fear. The space is pleasant, although perhaps more so if you’re seated downstairs. The pleasantries also tend to wear off during a 2 and a half hour wait for entrees and mains. The hunger of the evening is memorable. The service was good, there when you needed it, but it felt a bit hurried and the specials run down felt like an announcement - a little off putting. The menu is enticing, but the prices are noticeable. The confit rabbit and beef tartare… no questions asked, just beautiful plates of food all round. Quail? good, tender, but had me searching for more accompaniments. The pork cotoletta, was disappointing, as much so for its weight in my stomach as what was on the plate. $46, perhaps justified by the volume of meat, but I just can’t see how that much is necessary for anyone. Good describes the meat, just crumbed the cotoletta , simple for the ’celeriac, radicchio, necartine’ (the lure, so unexpected showing up as a slaw). The sauce, unremarkable. Overall, reminiscent of $25 pub schnitzel. Also not exactly practical for squeezing the lemon wedge sitting in sauce that was propping up the cotoletta. Pastas were good, the ingredients did taste very fresh. The dessert? certainly, interesting, appreciable subtle flavours but ultimately I found the delicate flavours were overpowered by a weird cidery/ tangy fermented fruit flavour. Entrees really were lovely, but for the price I just can’t see myself going back."
"Absolutely wonderful lunch experience. All the dishes were amazing, I think my favourite was the bug tagliatelle. The duck ravioli was also excellent. Chocolate tart was very yum and a great way to finish the meal. Large wine selection and great service too. The ambience is classic and sophisticated, I would definitely come back again!"
