As a representative of Aiki Kai Aikido in Melbourne and the state of Victoria, we are proud to be a part of the National Aikido Association of Australia, which was formed in 1965 under the direct authorization of the Aikido founder, Ueshiba Morihei, also known as O-Sensei. Our founder, Sugano Seiichi (8th Dan), was a direct student of O-Sensei and served as the head of Aiki-Kai in Australia. He was also the Australian representative to the affiliated parent organization, World Aikido Headquarters (Hombu), based in Japan.

Since Sugano Sensei's passing in 2010, his responsibilities have been carried on by the Sugano Foundation, ensuring that his teachings and legacy continue to thrive. At Korumbura Aikido Aiki Kai Aust. Gippsland, we uphold the principles and values instilled by Sugano Sensei, emphasizing commitment, respect, and humility.
