Unfortunately, The Shack experienced a devastating fire on the 22nd of October 2015, resulting in a complete loss of the building. This incident was a great loss for the Upper Plenty community, as the hall served as a hub for various activities and events.

The Upper Plenty History Exhibition, held at The Shack, was recognized and shortlisted for the Victorian Community History Awards in 2015.
