"I had to have a mediation and was forced to apologise to 3 girls because I posted a stand up comedians show on Instagram as it offended them. It honestly was the biggest pisstake because the same girls had posted nasty remarks and comments prior and we were immediately shut down in the mediation when we brought it up. I received death threats because the teacher decided to play along with their narrative and when the school alerted said teacher that I wasn't safe he simply shrugged it off and didn't care. This situation dragged on for over 2 years and I ended up having anxiety attacks at school and became extremely depressed and suicidal to the point where I had to leave school once a week to go to therapist appointments. If I could go back I would have never enrolled at Mater Christi."
"My daughter has attended this school for five years and I have not regretted my decision to send her there for one moment. The quality of the education is extremely high and the teachers very highly qualified. There is an underlying kindness in all their actions and my daughter has felt very supported throughout her years. The Benedictine values shine clearly through everything they do. Every year they seem to outdo themselves and this year has seen the welcome introduction of therapy dogs. The pricincipal and vice principals are women of education, integrity and insight who provide excellent role models for the girls. The increased pastoral care this year after the struggles of last year signifies the concern and foresight of the staff. I would give this school the highest recommendation."
"Far from a conducive learning environment and further from helping kids grow into confident well-rounded adults. The school favours branding and doesn’t help struggling kids, but conversely ,reprimands and shames them. The school is more concerned with protecting their image and their teachers than fostering the growth and wellbeing of their students. I have too many horror stories from my experience as a student at this school (10 years ago but from the reviews they’re still receiving it doesn’t seem like much has changed) and not because of bullying by other students but bullying from upper management teachers and as a result sometimes teacher as well. My interpretation of the attitude adopted by the school is a general apathy for the well being and happiness of their students. This school will only be half decent for a student with parents that have the time and capability to nurture their child’s mental well-being and confidence themselves. Considering how expensive the school is, you’ll likely get a better education at a public school AND the money can be invested in more worthwhile tutoring and extracurriculars. Example: one particular year level coordinator would always roll their eyes at students and tell their students to have “more realistic goals” if they voiced their aspirations. A particular art teacher made a student in my class (in year 7) stand on a chair and rip their painting up in front of the class room because she liked her painting and didn’t want to start over. This is just a few examples of many... From my own experience: I invested a lot of my free time to create a video for the school and immediately after receiving an award for it the aforementioned level coordinator (miss avram) pulled me aside and said my uniform was disgusting (because I tucked my shirt into my skirt). After that, I had no desire to invest my time in to school activities."
"I am a parent who is seriously considering this school. I have read your reviews and most of you who have left a negative review have not provided any substantial reasoning or basis for the negative review which I think is pretty poor and not fair to the school or the community. There are two sides to each story. With regard to the suspended student for a whole term with no paperwork - That is just utter rubbish. That doesn't happen. I am in the education system and there is always a hefty paper trail. As the Google reviews don't provide me with any real information, I suggest that other parents (including myself) contact the school directly. Visit the school when it is in operation and get a feel for it. That's what I will be doing."
