The learning experience at MAS involves two aspects: the practical aspect of "driving" the aircraft and the theoretical aspect of "book learning." Under the supervision of your instructor, you will learn how to handle the controls of the aircraft, perform takeoffs and landings, and fly straight and level. Additionally, you will gain knowledge in flight planning, navigation, radio procedures, flight rules, regulations, and weather.

When you are ready for your private pilot license test, you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for safe flying. While government regulations specify minimum requirements, your instructor's judgment plays a crucial role in determining when you are ready to fly solo. On average, students receive solo endorsement after ten to twelve hours of dual instruction.

Once authorized for solo flight, you can fly within the training area, subject to your instructor's approval. The private pilot license allows you to fly with passengers anywhere in Australia, and you will need to complete a minimum of 40 hours of flying, including 10 hours of solo flight.

There are no maximum age requirements for obtaining a pilot license, as long as you are in good general health and can control an aircraft safely. A medical examination by an approved doctor is required every four years for private pilots. Wearing glasses does not prevent you from flying, as long as your vision meets the required standards.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need extensive education or mechanical skills to become a pilot. As long as you can read, speak, and understand English and possess common sense, a desire to learn, and a willingness to follow regulations and your own piloting abilities, you can learn to fly with MAS.
