Welcome to the Northern School for Autism, a centre of excellence located in Lalor, Australia. Our institution is dedicated to supporting students with autism in developing their personal and educational potential, so they can become valued contributors to family and community life.

As the principal of the Northern School for Autism, I am incredibly proud to introduce our school to you. We have exceptional facilities and a team of fantastic teachers, allied health staff, and education support staff who are committed to supporting our students in their learning journey. With a team of 190 staff members across our two campuses, we provide autism-specific educational programs for 425 students ranging from 5 to 18 years of age. Each campus is supported by a dedicated leadership team that oversees the implementation of the curriculum and daily operations.

Our Reservoir Campus offers state-of-the-art facilities for our Early and Middle Years students. For our Later Years students, we have the refurbished Lalor Campus, conveniently located near transport, community services, and shopping precincts.

In 2015, we opened a satellite program at Norris Bank Primary School. To be eligible for this program, students must be enrolled at the Northern School for Autism and complete their first year of education at the Reservoir Campus.

At the Northern School for Autism, we have adopted the TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children) approach to structured teaching. This evidence-based program is suitable for individuals of all ages and skill levels with autism spectrum disorders. Our teachers build on the strengths and skills of each student to promote their development. To ensure consistency in our approach, we have also developed a set of expected teaching and learning protocols that are followed throughout the school.

We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung people, the Wurundjeri Willum Clan, and the Taungurung People, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which our school stands. We recognize and respect their continuing connection to the land, waters, and culture. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and future.
