At Cairnlea Park Primary School, we understand the importance of providing nutritious meals to our students. We have been fortunate to partner with Eat Up, an organization that supplies food to children in need. We recognize that hunger can have a significant impact on a child's ability to concentrate and learn, which is why we prioritize ensuring that all our students have access to healthy meals.

Our school day begins promptly at 8:55am, with all entry gates opening at 8:40am. We want to ensure that our students have ample time to settle in and prepare for the day ahead. School finishes at 3:20pm, and the gates will be open from 3:10pm for a smooth dismissal process. During these times, our school grounds are supervised to ensure the safety of our students.

We are committed to providing a high-quality education that meets the standards set by the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). As of July 17, 2023, NAPLAN reporting will be based on four proficiency standards, replacing the previous numerical bands. This allows us to accurately assess the progress and achievements of our students.

To support the professional growth of our staff and enhance student wellbeing, we have scheduled a curriculum day on Friday, July 28th. On this day, students will remain at home while our dedicated staff engage in professional learning activities. We encourage parents to make the necessary arrangements as the school will be closed on this day.

To maintain a focused learning environment, we have a strict policy regarding the use of mobile phones at school. All students are required to leave their mobile phones at the office upon arrival and collect them at home time. Any violation of this policy will result in confiscation of the mobile phone, requiring parents to come to the school to retrieve it.

We believe that good attendance is crucial for academic success. Research shows that regular attendance positively impacts a child's learning and overall school experience. We encourage parents to establish a routine that prioritizes punctuality and attendance from an early age. Good attendance habits built in preschool will benefit children throughout their educational journey.

It is important to note that missing school can significantly hinder a child's progress. Even a few absences can lead to falling behind in reading and other subjects. Additionally, being late to school can contribute to poor attendance and disrupt the learning process for the entire classroom. We urge parents to communicate any concerns about attendance or anxiety to our teachers or wellbeing staff for support and guidance.

- Term 2: April 24th to June 23rd
