About the Business
Welcome to St. Paul's Anglican Kindergarten, a not-for-profit organization located in the beautiful tree-lined streets of Canterbury, Australia. For over 75 years, we have been delivering play-based preschool programs to local children, preparing them not just for school, but for life.
Our highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff are Early Childhood Professionals who strive to enrich children's lives through vibrant and diverse tailored learning programs. At St. Paul's, we provide a warm, welcoming, and positive environment for your child to learn and grow, where learning is fun and enduring friendships are made.
Families who live outside the municipality are welcome to apply for a position for their child. All our enrollments are done through the Boroondara Kindergarten Central Enrolments Scheme (BKCES).
Our curriculum is broad, with a distinct focus on creative arts. We offer programs such as yoga, Drama Toolbox, music, Sport4Kids, Bush Kinder, and art workshops. These programs are enjoyed by all the children, and we also have special visitors and artists-in-residence who share their life experiences to enhance their learning. Excursions and incursions further provide the children with special access to the world around them.
Our indoor and outdoor facilities are designed to maximize space and provide a wide variety of age-appropriate experiences that extend and challenge the children. Our 4-year-old and Pre-prep groups also have the opportunity to attend Canterbury Primary School to assist with their transition into school life and participate in Social Skill programs run by a qualified Speech Therapist.
At St. Paul's, we strictly practice our kinder's mission, ensuring that all children learn through creative play. Our programs offer an outstanding learning experience within a stimulating and nurturing environment.
In today's fast-paced and technological world, we recognize the importance of teaching children to slow down, explore the natural environment, problem solve, and take risks within a supported framework. That's why we offer Bush Kinder, which provides unplanned and unpredictable encounters that lead to significant learning opportunities. Extensive research shows that Bush Kinder benefits children's confidence, motivation, resilience, concentration, as well as their visual, social, physical, imaginative, and language skills.
In addition to our regular curriculum, we also offer a wide range of supplemental specialist programs such as Sport4Kids, music, Drama Toolbox, yoga, and mindfulness classes. These programs enrich and positively influence each child's social, physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
What sets our kinder apart is our rich and varied incursion and excursion roster. We offer a diverse range of experiences, including street and dog safety, first aid, Drama Toolbox, beekeeping, Indigenous cultural experiences, and encounters with native animals and reptiles. We also organize excursions to places of interest such as the local Primary School, the National Art Gallery, Melbourne Museum, Bush Kinder, and local shops. These engaging and educational experiences ensure that our children are exposed to a plethora of learning opportunities.
At St. Paul's, we are committed to teaching sustainable practices and supporting children in becoming environmentally responsible throughout their entire lives. We prioritize the safety and well-being of all children and have zero tolerance for child abuse. Our systems, practices, and policies comply with the most recent Standards and embed the eleven Child Safe Standards throughout all of our operations.
We actively encourage parents to be a part of our kinder community through multiple avenues. Our passionate and experienced staff bring their brilliance to the programs, with varying interests including special needs children, outdoor education, and art. They provide engaging and enriching programs for all our kinder groups.
Finally, we acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live, the Boonwurrung and Woiwurrung (Wurundjeri) peoples of the Kulin Nation. We celebrate the stories, culture, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders from all communities who also work and live on this land.
Join us at St. Paul's Anglican Kindergarten, where your child will thrive in a nurturing, creative, and inclusive environment.

Reviews
"I went here when I was in Kinder over 10 years ago. That makes me feel old. Anyway, I had some good memories from this place (apart from the fact that I was always the shortest in my class). I always remember when we would sing our favourite songs as a class and play outside in the giant sandpit when I was in 4 year old kinder (They removed the giant sandpit when I started prep at Canterbury Primary). Great place to send your kids between ages 3-5. Always loved this place and the hall (where the 3 year old kinder used to be before the kinder room went to where the stage was. When I was there, it was at the front of the hall). Sending your young children here would make a great start to their early education"
