Welcome to Flinders Preschool, located at 62 Bass Street in Flinders, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest in the community, we are proud to offer a fully funded kinder program starting in 2023 for both our 3-year-old and 4-year-old students. Join our play-based community where children have the opportunity to build essential skills for life.

Our preschool operates on specific session times to accommodate different age groups. For 3-year-olds, sessions are held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 2:30pm, with plans to extend the hours to 9am to 3pm in 2024. For 4-year-olds, sessions are held on Mondays and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm, and on Wednesdays from 9am to 12pm.

At Flinders Preschool, we believe that play is the key to young children's learning. Our philosophy revolves around the idea that active and exploring children learn about their environment while developing important foundations in literacy, social skills, confidence, independence, and creativity.

We strongly believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences. Our programs encourage self-involvement and self-direction, allowing children to take the lead in their learning. Some activities are initiated by our educators, while others are created by the children themselves. Every learning experience is designed to be active, encouraging critical thinking and experimentation to gain first-hand knowledge about the world around us.

As a play-based learning environment, we understand the importance of open-ended and enjoyable activities for children. Play-based learning has been proven to help children develop essential social skills, creativity, as well as early literacy and numeracy skills. Everything our students do at our preschool serves as a foundation for their future school learning.

Building resilience is a crucial aspect of our educational approach. We have recently received department funding to implement the Resilience Project into our 4-year-old program. Through our beach kinder program and a variety of play-based activities, we foster resilience in our students, helping them develop life-long skills to cope with everyday emotional and physical challenges.

Our goal is for every child to feel comfortable and confident within our group and our preschool community. We actively participate in the Flinders township's community, with our families regularly involved in local events such as the Anzac March and Flinders Art Show. One of the highlights of our kindergarten's program is our weekly sessions at the beach. Through child-led play in a beach environment, children experience challenges, develop self-awareness, and, most importantly, resilience.
