About the Business
Welcome to Epping Shotokan Karate, a premier establishment and health point of interest located at 15 Ward Street in Epping, Australia. Our institution is dedicated to the teachings of Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan karate-do, who believed that spirit should always come before technique.
At Epping Shotokan Karate, we prioritize the well-being and individual requirements of our students. To join our close-knit dojo family, simply book a trial lesson by emailing us. We highly recommend trial lessons as they allow you to experience the club atmosphere and meet our experienced instructors. We understand that beginning a martial art can be a lifelong commitment, and we want to ensure that your journey starts off on the right foot.
Our training schedule offers classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Beginners' classes run from 6pm to 6:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 9:30am to 10am on Saturdays. Intermediate classes take place from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 10am to 11am on Saturdays. Advanced students can join the class from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or from 8am to 9:30am on Saturdays.
When it comes to training costs, there are two components at Epping Shotokan Karate. Firstly, there is the annual membership fee, which is paid on the anniversary of your starting date. This fee covers your membership to the Shotokan Karate International Australia (SKIA) association, as well as our insurance. Secondly, there are the weekly training fees, which are paid fortnightly in advance through direct debit. We also offer the option to provide you with a Dogi (Karate Uniform), so please let us know if you would like us to arrange one for you.
We are proud to be an "NSW Active Kids" provider, accepting vouchers for training fees. This initiative allows children to engage in physical activities and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Epping Shotokan Karate Dojo is affiliated with several esteemed associations, ensuring that our training adheres to the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
Join us today and embark on a journey of self-discovery, discipline, and personal growth through the practice of Shotokan karate. Contact us now to book your trial lesson and take the first step towards a healthier and more empowered you.

Reviews
"I have been attending this dojo for a number of years and have nothing but positive things to say about it. Dedicated teachers, intense training and a lively community. Cannot recommend enough."
"I have a been student at this dojo for years so I'm probably a little biased. Unlike some other nuevo karate schools, this is part of the international association of Shotokan Karate who's chief instructor (Shihan) resides in japan and is held in high esteem there. To become a black belt takes hard work and discipline as well as grading by international panel of judges not just paying the fee. The dojo instructors (who have full time day jobs so do it for the passion and true spirit of teaching) make sure that it is a safe learning environment for development of character and confidence in young members whilst the senior class has enough biffo to give the occasional bruises make it fun."
"I have trained for many years in many clubs and associations - I have recently joined the Epping Dojo (karate club) and am delighted with the quality of the instruction and equally the way I have been welcomed into an extremely professional and friendly team of people"
"I’ve been part of this dojo since 2003. I and my two sons have started here as white belts and gone onto black belts. In time we have each won national level titles. The consistency and calibre of teachers and students makes this a welcoming , yet demanding dojo."
"The calibre of the instructors and students at Epping are a testament to the fact that this Karate club is still operating in its 20th year. The club offers instruction in traditional karate and provides enough encouragement for anyone wanting to pursue the sport side of it, with evidence of quite a few karateka representing the dojo, state and country in various competitions. Training is hard, but fun and most importantly inclusive. Top karate club in the Epping area!"
