Welcome to ATYP, the Australian Theatre for Young People, located at 13A Hickson Road in Dawes Point, Australia. As the national youth theatre company, our mission is to enrich the lives of young Australians through transformative theatre experiences.

Since our establishment in 1963, ATYP has been dedicated to connecting young people with the professional theatre industry at a local, regional, and national level. This commitment remains at the heart of everything we do. We believe in integrating professional theatre practice with supportive youth theatre processes, working collaboratively with celebrated national companies and small youth theatres alike.

For almost 60 years, ATYP has used theatre experiences to nurture and inspire young Australians. We offer a wide range of engaging drama and writing workshops, yearly production seasons, writing programs, and a youth advisory panel. Our goal is to support young people from their very first theatre experience to their first professional production, empowering them to become the next generation of creators, thinkers, and leaders.
