About the Business
Welcome to the Great River Walk, located in Penrith, Australia. This establishment is not only a point of interest but also a popular tourist attraction, offering breathtaking scenery along the Hawkesbury-Nepean River. Whether you prefer biking, picnicking, or simply taking a leisurely walk, the Great River Walk is the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
As you explore the walk, which spans through Penrith at the foot of the Blue Mountains, you'll be captivated by the stunning landscapes and natural beauty that surrounds you. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, we recommend checking out the Penrith Great River Walk Map, which provides valuable information on parking areas, picnic spots, lookouts, and other sites of interest. The map's 'stars' indicate the main entry points to the walk, making it easy for you to navigate.
It's important to note that the Great River Walk is just a small section of a much larger trail that spans a remarkable 570km. This trail connects the river's mouth at Broken Bay to its headwaters at Lake Bathurst, south of Goulburn. In collaboration with the NSW government, the council has been working diligently to extend the path along the river banks, with plans to further expand it towards Penrith Lakes, Windsor, Wisemans Ferry, and Berowra in the future.
The Great River Walk holds great significance as it is a key component of the recently endorsed "Our River" Nepean River Masterplan, which outlines exciting proposals for the development of the Nepean River area. To gain further insight into these future plans, we encourage you to download the Nepean River Masterplan and explore the Nepean River interactive map.
Conveniently, the walk is within walking distance of both Penrith and Emu Plains stations, making it easily accessible for those relying on public transportation. If you need assistance planning your trip, we recommend visiting NSW Transport Info for comprehensive public transport information.
For those arriving by car, parking is available at Tench Reserve, Weir Reserve, or Regatta Park. To find detailed information about these facilities, including parking, playgrounds, and toilets, we invite you to view the Nepean River interactive map. Additionally, accessible toilets can be found nearby, and their locations are outlined on our Accessible Services Map or the National Public Toilet Map.
If you frequently visit the Great River Walk as part of a group, we encourage you to reach out to us via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., as we may have tailored services and information to enhance your experience.

Come and immerse yourself in the natural wonders of the Great River Walk. We guarantee an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe of Australia's remarkable beauty.

"Beautiful place ,,, good for walk and if you want to spend some time its quiet place neat and clean"
"Very nice place for a stroll along the banks of the river , or a walk with a a friend or family . The walkway is fairly well maintained , has a few slight hills and lots of shady sections along the way . There are information boards along the way with some interesting facts and historical pictures . There are plenty of places to stop for a break and some very pretty scenery along the walk . Didnt see any bubblers along the way , which would be handy , or any toilets along the walk . But there are toilets available in Weir reserve which is adjacent to the walk .There is The Coffee Club at one end and the Rowing Club near the end of the walk , which is nice to drop in for a cleansing refreshing ale and a good feed . Warning keep an eye out for snakes , there are snakes ,this is bushland ."
