About the Business
Welcome to Free It Up Dance and Entertainment, located at 191 Parramatta Road, Auburn, Australia. Our institution is a vibrant establishment and a point of interest for those looking to unlock their rhythm and connect with their bodies. We believe in embracing the vibrant energy of Caribbean Carnival Dance and Fitness, allowing individuals to express themselves through movement and discover the joy that comes with it.
At Free It Up Dance, we offer a wide range of dance and fitness classes, making us the only school in Australia specializing in the Caribbean Carnival style dance known as "Soca". Whether you're interested in private lessons to learn how to dance and move your hips, hens and party classes for a fun and memorable activity, or studio hire for practice and rehearsal space, we have something for everyone.
Get ready to move your hips and roll your waistlines with our Soca dance classes. Not only will you build your fitness and flexibility, but you'll also experience the vibrant world of Caribbean dance. Throw on some Carnival feathers and test your skills at limbo, creating fun and memorable experiences for hens' nights, team building events, or private parties.
Studio hire is also available for groups or individuals who want to practice or host their own classes. Our facilities provide the perfect space for dancers and fitness enthusiasts to hone their skills.
Leading the way at Free It Up Dance Australia is Jamie Trahanas, a certified fitness professional with Fitness Australia. With extensive dance teaching and performing experience across various styles, including Latin and Caribbean dance, Jamie is the only Australian instructor who has performed alongside Soca artist Machel Montano and other Caribbean and African artists during Trinidad and Tobago Carnival festivities.
Jamie has established herself as a leading soca dance instructor and advocate for soca music both in Australia and overseas. Her focus is on teaching and raising awareness of Soca and the incredible fitness benefits that come with it. She aims to help individuals connect with their bodies, their waistlines, and build their confidence, all while having fun.
Whether you're a Soca beginner looking to join our Wining 101 course or an experienced dancer wanting to take your skills to the next level, we have a variety of classes to suit your needs. From dance tutorials focusing on technique and high-intensity circuit style classes to stretch sessions for lower body flexibility, we offer it all.
Join us at our Auburn location for the Soca Beginners - Wining 101 - 5 week course or visit our Marrickville studio for our intermediate Soca dance class with Soca dance routines. No matter your level of experience, we have something for everyone.

"Hands down, best studio, best instructor, best DJ & BEST CHOREOGRAPHY IN AUSTRALIA ! Nothing but beautiful vibes here, feels like I get taken back to carnival in Trinidad every time I attend class. Jamie really goes out of her way and meets the needs of everyone that participates in the classes no matter what level of dancing you are at, from complete beginner to advance. I will always recommend this dance studio to everyone ! Thank you for building a safe and happy place for everyone to enjoy :)"
