St Finbar's Catholic Primary School Sans Souci has a rich history dating back to 1926 when it was established by Fr John Driscoll. The school was initially set up in the original church building by the sisters of St Joseph. In 1936, the Sisters of Mercy took over the running of the school, which continued to share the church building until 1959 when a new church was opened.
Today, St Finbar's is entirely staffed by lay teachers and is under the leadership of Sydney Catholic Schools. Our patron saint, St Finbar, inspires us to be contemplative and self-reflective, while the Sisters of St Joseph and Sisters of Mercy inspire us to be people of action and live by values such as unity, respect, compassion, and justice.
Our school motto, "shine on the world like bright stars," encapsulates our values and encourages us to be the best we can be.
In addition to our academic programs, our school also offers sacramental programs that connect our school and parish. The preparation and celebration of sacraments are a combined effort between the parish and the school, guided by our parish priest and supported by the parents, teachers, and volunteers.
St Finbar's is proud to be part of Sydney Catholic Schools, a system of over 150 low-fee Catholic schools in the Sydney Archdiocese. We strive to ignite a love of Christ through excellent teaching and learning, empowering our students to reach their full potential.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our schools and offices stand and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
Join us at St Finbar's Catholic Primary School Sans Souci, where we nurture, empower, and shine as a faith-filled community.
