Welcome to Waterford Preschool, a prestigious establishment located in the heart of Waverley, Australia. With a rich history dating back to 1924, our institution has been providing quality early childhood education and care for over 25 years.

Waterford Preschool was established by Waverley College in 1994, and this year we proudly celebrated our 25th anniversary with the local community, previous educators, families, and specialists who have been part of our preschool journey. We were honored to have special guests such as Graham Leddie, Dr. Marjorie O'Neill (MP), and Gai Suttie, the inaugural director, join us for this momentous occasion.

The roots of our preschool go even deeper, as the land on which it stands was purchased by the Kindergarten Union in 1924 to serve as a training college. Over the years, it has transformed into a demonstration preschool for the Sydney Kindergarten College and later became The Institute of Early Studies. In 1990, the College relocated, and Waverley College purchased the site, continuing the operation of the government-funded preschool.

Named after Edmund Rice, the founder of the Christian Brothers, Waterford Preschool embodies his spirit of compassion and care for children. Our philosophy recognizes the early childhood years as a crucial stage of life and learning, and our program is designed to develop positive dispositions towards learning and others. In 1996, we proudly received a rating of exceeding the National Quality Standards from the NSW Department of Education.

At Waterford Preschool, we provide a dynamic and nurturing learning environment. Our highly educated early childhood teachers and educators are dedicated to the well-being of the children and their families. We prioritize inclusion in all its forms and actively support families on their parenting journey. As a community hub, we foster learning, connections, and well-being.

Leading and managing Waterford Preschool is an absolute privilege, and we are grateful for the ongoing support of Waverley College. We would also like to acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which Waverley College is located. We honor and respect their unique cultural and spiritual connections to the land, waters, seas, and sky, as well as their significant contributions to society.
