Welcome to Barker College Prep School, located at 11 Clarke Road in Waitara, Australia. Our Junior School is a vibrant hub of learning and teaching, where pastoral care is a top priority and building relationships is key.

At Barker, we follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate, designed for students aged 3 to 12 years. The PYP aims to develop internationally minded individuals who embody the attributes of the Learner Profile. Our curriculum is engaging, relevant, challenging, and significant, with a focus on putting learning in a global context and making real-world connections.

Our curriculum in Pre-K to Year 6 is designed to support students' academic wellbeing, as well as their social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs. We combine the best research and practice to create a holistic educational framework for all children.

Our contemporary curriculum offers a balanced program that incorporates foundational skills, guided inquiry, collaborative learning, and the appropriate use of technology. Additionally, our diverse co-curricular activities emphasize the importance of sport, creative arts, and practical skills in the overall development of each child.

We are proud to announce that our Junior School now offers a fully coeducational environment from Pre-K to Year 6. We have been educating girls in our Senior School since 1975, and we believe that a coeducational experience provides a safe space for young men and women to grow together, learn to collaborate respectfully, and appreciate different viewpoints.

We have key entry points at Pre-K, Kindergarten, Year 3, and Year 5, although we also consider applications for other year groups whenever possible. We invite you to join us on a tour to witness how we inspire our students every day in every experience.

For families in need of out-of-school hours care, the Barker College OSH Club is available. Located opposite the Junior School on Clarke Road, the OSH Centre operates before school from 6:30am to 8:25am and after school from 2:45pm to 6:00pm. Did you know that before World War 2, Barker had its own cow herd and vegetable garden that provided fresh produce to the school's kitchen? We take pride in our history and traditions.

Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the Dharug, Darkinjung, Wonnarua, and Yolŋu peoples, who are the traditional custodians of the land on which Barker College, Darkinjung Barker, Ngarralingayil Barker, and Dhupuma Barker stand. We pay our respects to the Elders, both past and present, of these nations and extend our respect to all Indigenous people within the Barker College community.
