About the Business
Welcome to St Patrick's Catholic Primary School Mortlake, a warm and welcoming community located at 12 Herbert Street, Mortlake, Australia. At our institution, your child will be loved and cared for, as we prioritize early learners and have handpicked our teachers to ensure a high-quality education. Grounded in contemporary research, our teachers lead by example as continual learners, fostering a love of learning in our students.
Transitioning to primary school at St Patrick's is unlike any other, thanks to our supportive family school community. We strive to create purposeful learners who are resilient, engaged, and well-informed. In January 2017, we welcomed our first students into an exciting and imaginative learning culture.
St Patrick's Catholic Primary School Mortlake carries on the tradition of Catholic education in the area, which began in 1895 with the support of the parish and the Sisters of Charity. Our goal is to create a dynamic and contemporary school that empowers our learners for a rewarding future.
Our school culture reflects Christian values of inclusion, respect, love, welcome, and service. We encourage parents to actively engage in their child's educational journey as the first educators. Monsignor John Usher passionately supports our vision to establish a high-quality Catholic school in the heart of the Mortlake community.
Our dream for St Patrick's is to be a dynamic school, a place of learning and inquiry, faith and celebration, within a safe and happy environment. Our history dates back to 1896 when the original school was founded to educate Irish workers' children. Although it closed and reopened over the years, it permanently closed in 1963. The Sisters of Charity played a significant role in educating the children, and historical school registers and inspector reports still exist.
As we move forward, our school's vision and mission are underpinned by charity values of love, justice, compassion, and hope. We also acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, the Wangal people of the Eora Nation.
In 2018, we moved into a new building designed to capture natural light, space, and ventilation. Watching their school rise from the ground into a modern and spacious structure was a wonderful experience for our students.
At St Patrick's Catholic Primary School Mortlake, our mission is to be a dynamic faith-filled school connected to the world. We strive for excellence and collaboration with our students, teachers, parents, and the parish community. Our aim is to encourage imagination and celebrate diversity.

Might I also add that the introduction to Kindergarten has been impressive & extensive, allowing all of the children to become as comfortable as possible during this intensive transition."
