Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre 405 Crown Street, Surry Hills, New South Wales 2010
About the Business
Welcome to the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre, located at 405 Crown Street in the vibrant city of Surry Hills, Australia. As an establishment and point of interest, we are proud to have been serving the community for over 40 years.
At our Centre, we believe that children are a precious gift who remind us of the wonderful things that exist in the world. We are grateful to be a part of their journey and strive to inspire them through a combination of old-world values and modern-day education principles. Our aim is to foster creativity, discovery, and a love for learning in the children under our care.
In addition to our dedication to children, we also offer various services for the community. Our one-on-one computer support is designed to help individuals navigate the digital world with ease. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced user, our knowledgeable staff will assist you every step of the way.
We also invite all members of the community to join our Tai Chi class. Led by an experienced teacher, this class is suitable for beginners and provides a great opportunity to improve your physical and mental well-being.
For those interested in arts and crafts, our Centre offers a relaxed environment where you can explore your creative side. Join us for a fun and social experience, meet new people, and discover your artistic talents.
If you're a fan of vintage fashion, valuable antiques, books, hand-made beauty products, or designer labels, our markets are a must-visit. Rain or shine, our markets boast over sixty stalls where you can find both new and pre-loved goods. It's the perfect place to shop for unique gifts or treat yourself to something special.
For those seeking inspiration, we encourage you to join The Creative Table Project on a visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney. Immerse yourself in the world of art and let your creativity soar.
At the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre, we believe in the power of conversation and understanding. Join us for a conversation with Councillor Yvonne Weldon to explore the importance of the Voice to Parliament. Learn how to engage in meaningful discussions and help others understand the significance of this issue.
Lastly, we would not be the Centre we are today without the support of our dedicated volunteers and members. While we receive some government funding, it does not cover all the vital services we offer. We invite you to become a volunteer and make a positive impact on your local community. In return, you'll experience personal fulfillment, social engagement, and the satisfaction of knowing you're making a difference.
Join us at the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre and embark on a journey of discovery, creativity, and community. We look forward to welcoming you!

"This is not a criticism I won't to know why they closed the cafe upstairs on markets day it was great to go up have coffee and eat after checking out the markets it sadly closed over COVID and never opened again anyone know why.please come back sadly missed."
"A wonderful, welcoming and friendly place to go. Many things available for the community to participate in and everyone is welcome. The Community Cafe held on the first Saturday of each month is a must. All food freshly made overseen by the amazing cook Stephen Lunny, and the scones for Devonshire tea made right before your eyes. The team of volunteers are extra hard workers and it's easy to see all have great relationships with one another making the dynamic and balance just right for all who visit. Highly recommend a visit to the Cafe, with the monthly markets across the road, everyone is happy."
"It's your community centre though the hours need to be upscaled opening more often but they don't want to do it for it's volunteers whom staff it. I went to volunteer there, the boss lady Margaret said they'd have to do a police check and would get back to me. Well that was back when I moved in to Northcott Housing and have asked but no response has been received by me to date so they've lost me. Not very good attitude to have wouldn't you say."
"Lovely staff & awesome community cafe on the first Saturday of every month. Devonshire tea, deluxe & delicious lunches & desserts. Check out their Facebook page or google search their website for further activities & programs"
