"I'm just a hobbyist wood worker. I always love coming to Timbecon. There's so many high end tools and bits that you just can't get at any of the larger retailers. Friendly, helpful staff too. New Epping store is amazing!"
"Had an issue with my table saw, they sent out the technician Gio, absolute gentleman! He fixed it for me straight away, told me if there were any other issues to contact them without hesitation. Glad to see Timbecon really cares about customer service. Well done guys!!"
"Purchased a corner clamp online from this place. It left red marks on my work and I made a complaint asking for a *partial* refund. Alaina, the customer service representative I was speaking to said verbatim; "Commonly the clamping stage would be occurring before any finish/paint is applied, it is possible that the finish or paint could have a chemical effect which is debonding the paint from the clamp." While this is true, I just happen to be one of the 'uncommon occassion' where it would save me time to paint the timber before clamping, after all, this product that I purchased was meant to save time, right? Anyway, I explained this to her and her last reply was; "I suggest using a buffer between the vice and your work if you want to clamp something that is painted. Chalk paint is very porous, so it is much more likely to hold any markings than if not used. We will only offer refunds for manufacturing faults and not for user errors. We've tried to replicate this issue instore, clamping very tightly and found no issue." I sent another couple of photos of the red paint rubbing against bare unpainted timber, see attached.. I wonder if this was truly an end-user error or something that the manufacturer intended to happen. That was the last reply. Haven't heard back since. The only good thing I've experienced so far about this place was this American accent guy I spoke to over the phone about my order delivery, other than that it has been quite frustrating. 1 star."
"Sherwood products don’t come with instructions for assembly or any manuals . They admit this is a problem but apparently this is not anybody’s department to rectify the issue. Instead customers are referred to the website pictures as assembly instructions. The cast iron router table was rusted near the dial depth indicator and the perspex cracked at each counter sunk screw clearly indicating overnighted from factory. Photos were sent and the reply, sometimes this happens in transit. We need to know how deep the rust is. Its a $3000 router table. I would expect a manual/assembly instructions and not to be fobbed off. Oh and don’t point out these issues that being an Australian company, consumers would expect better or staff hang up on you because their feelings are hurt. In response to your reply, i was calm and explaining what the issue was. Using well known terms, what Aussie’s use as described above does not mean someone is yelling at you. As I said before, people need to differentiate between this and stop being so precious. If you would like me to discuss the legal ramifications (given the warnings with the router motor states install as per manual etc. ) should the items not be assembled correctly (as warnings state to assemble and use in accordance with the manual) and an injury occur to the user because they weren’t put together correctly given no manuals are provided, then you would be liable."
"Quick and short review after a few years of being a customer. 1. In-store support is fantastic but if you have to wait it can take awhile (machine/product talk can be long! Cause it's so in-depth plus two people talking about a project can go forever I know. ) 2. Really good to get hands on with the product before you buy! ( the online product videos are good which seals the deal for me) 3. I do most my purchases from my mobile (Just make sure you follow all the shipping details and questions) 4. Customer support is great across phone and email ( I've cancelled, got refunds organised no problem) 5. I love paying less than the full amount so their sales are great if you keep an eye out 6. Unless I leave things in the wrong hands all products I've purchased have performed in my business environment. I hope my review helps people find that the tools and supplies at Timbecon can suit their needs and budget. I run a joinery businesses and I've managed to save money by shopping here and able to continuallousy improve my shop at the same time."
