Welcome to Taronga Zoo Sky Safari, located at Mosman, Bradleys Head Road, 1 in Australia. After 35 incredible years, our beloved Sky Safari took its final ride on January 31, 2023. Although it's farewell for now, we are excited to announce that plans are well underway for the upgraded Sky Safari Experience.

First installed in its iconic position in 1987 and then upgraded in 2000, the Sky Safari has become one of Taronga's most cherished attractions, transporting over 20 million passengers throughout its lifetime. Time truly flies when you're having fun!

However, after 35 years, the Sky Safari has reached the end of its workable life with Taronga. Its retirement opens the door for a proposed upgrade that will transform it into an unforgettable and fully accessible family experience. Subject to planning approval, the upgraded Sky Safari is scheduled to open in 2025.

During the retirement of the Sky Safari, we are committed to ensuring the safe and efficient movement of our guests around the Zoo. You can enter Taronga Zoo Sydney through the iconic heritage gates at the Main Entrance, located at the top of the Zoo. Alternatively, you can use the Lower Zoo Entrance, just a 3-minute walk from the Taronga Zoo ferry wharf. If you arrive by ferry, you can enter through the Lower Entrance on Bradleys Head Road or catch the regular public bus from the Ferry Terminal to the Top Main Entrance. Taronga Zoo will also provide additional buses during holiday and peak periods to assist guests in reaching the Top Entrance.

We strive to ensure that guests of all ages and abilities can enjoy a day out at the zoo. If you need assistance returning to the top of the zoo, public and shuttle buses are available to connect the lower exit to the top entrance. Additionally, our accessibility map helps guests plan their route through the zoo, avoiding steeper slopes.

While plans are still in the early stages, we are thrilled to announce that the revitalized Sky Safari will feature larger and accessible gondolas, an expanded route, and greater access to the Zoo for guests of all ages and abilities. It's going to be an exciting new experience!

Although the Sky Safari may be retiring, there is still plenty to visit and explore at Taronga. Be sure to purchase a ticket or register your visit as a Zoo Friend. If you are a Zoo Friend, please log in to your portal and register your visit.
