"The Best Way to Travel in Ireland Why ride in a packed bus full of 40 people with little option for spontaneity? Why rent a car and stress over missing a turn, finding a parking spot or gas station, or hesitate to take a narrow back road? Why travel only by train or bus or taxi and miss 90% of the country? Why indeed. Once you travel with Tony Crowe you will be spoiled for traveling any other way... My three friends and I -- all active, senior women -- had an excellent experience with Tony in October, 2021. While some of us were more experienced travelers and professional guides ourselves, none had ever hired a guide with a private car. Now we are spoiled! Tony is a pro and has it down if you don't want to do a thing, but he was very open to us designing our own itinerary and then wisely filled in the logistics and gaps in our knowledge. He constantly "had our backs". While we were checking out the sites and scenery, he stayed ahead of the game by calling ahead to double confirm our lodging or get us tickets for something that we didn't know we needed. When inevitable issues arose, he knew what to do to move forward smoothly. He paid attention to learn our individual likes and interests and then surprised us by adding a lovely mountain drive and a hidden gem Victorian garden on an island we had never heard of. In advance, Tony connected one of us to a local genealogist to pursue tracking 1800s family history and place names potentially along our route. While the weather can be unpredictable anywhere, Tony knew the timing patterns of local microclimates and when the clouds might likely lift to give us the best views or hiking options. These strengths were all in addition to his safe and skillful driving and prompt attention to multiple details in the time of Covid. And of course his awesome Mercedes van is a delightful ride! One last thing-- Tony is also a good, kind human. More than once we witnessed him helping a lost or panicked traveler. He networked with other guides and shared tips of the road and good places drivers/guides can stay less expensively. He gets it that it pays to help each in this crazy world... and that makes all the difference!"

"We recently returned home from a fantastic 10 day whirlwind tour of Ireland. Our guide/driver, and new friend, Tony Crowe accompanied us for the last 8 days. It was our first trip having a guide so we really didn’t know what to expect. From the moment Tony met us outside our Dublin hotel, his friendly demeanor and outgoing personality assured we were going to be in very good hands. His knowledge of Ireland is encyclopedic. Whether it was history, scenery or food and drink, he always had a recommendation to satisfy. His many years of experience ensured we would take the best routes and arrive at the optimal time for each destination. We started referring to him as Sunshine Tours for his uncanny ability to time the windows of sunshine at each attraction. His wit and charm entertained us during some of the longer drives. And he worked tirelessly, even after hours, to arrange each day’s itinerary. He purchased tickets, checked us in to our hotels and arranged special access to places we never would have experienced on our own and he was happy to take a photograph of us to help record the wonderful family memories we were making. "Reviewed 1 week ago Our Go-To Tour Guide My family of 6 had an amazing, epic Ireland adventure. We custom designed a 3-week, whole island tour. We were blessed to have Tony Crowe as our driver and tour guide for the entire 3 weeks. Tony is easy-going, with a great sense of humor, and is a spiffy dresser. Most importantly, he is completely professional and reliable. He arrived promptly at the designated time, if not early, in the mornings. We spent each travel day driving to our destinations, with side trips that Tony arranged along the way, during which he regaled us with history and anecdotes of the areas we were visiting. Each day was interesting and fun while traveling with Tony. Tony recommended places to see, where to eat, and hotels. He handled the reservations when necessary for the castles we visited, a sheep dog demonstration, and the shows we saw. On our non-travel days, Tony was available to take us to shopping areas or wherever else our group spontaneously decided to go. He was flexible; if we wanted to go shopping instead of to a museum, he’d adjust our schedule, no problem. It's important to remember, when trying to decide between the large bus tours or a private tour with Tony, is that you will have much more freedom to explore with Tony. For instance, a large bus tour is not going to be able to spontaneously pull over when you see something you want to photography, or to slow down when you see landscape you want to admire. We appreciated that Tony customized our experience to what we wanted to do and see, and allowed us the freedom to explore along the way.
