"Was visiting Achill recently and happened to spot a sign for The Achill Experience Aquarium so we detoured and went for a visit. We were so glad we did!! The atmosphere was so welcoming and it was not overly expensive to enter. Our tour guide was so insightful, delivering his information so it was suitable for all ages and was happy to answer any questions people had. The only possible downfall is its small size but it does not take away from the wonderful experience you will have here. Cannot recommend enough and will definitely return!"
"Although small this is a great gem in Achill, especially on a rainy day. The guide gives great detail on Irish marine life, there’s lots about the history of the island and a great gift shop too"
"Excellent small aquarium. The tanks are so well put together and the sea creatures all look happy out! Really enjoyed the tour and it was particularly nice that the focus was on local sealife. I didnt have time to do the history section but the shop has lots of nice things in it including local honey and salt. Highly recommend."
"What can I say...a great experience, we all found out lots of things we never knew. I can't for the life of me remember the man that gave us all the information about the different sea creatures. He was brilliant and my son had lots of questions for him, he was full of knowledge, it was fascinating finding out about the life cycle of different sea animals and knowing that these animals all get returned to the ocean again, when they have learnt about them is great. The gift shop is lovely lots of handcrafted items aswel as souvenirs and kids toys. They have toilets and baby changing facilities which is always a worry when your put and about with an infant, so it was great to have the baby changing available. The staff that we met where all very pleasant and friendly. Thank you for a great experience."
"Really enjoyed it. At first I thought it is going to be more of a walk on your own experience so I was not as much excited but the guy in the orange jumper (apologies but I forgot to ask for the name) was phenomenal. You could clearly see that he is so invested in the place and made the whole experience really interesting and educational. I would highly recommend."
