"I stay regularly in Gaels apartments as I commute from Dublin to Athlone for work. Gael is a pleasure to deal with. I always look forward to my stay in the apartments. They are always so cosy and warm when I arrive. Kitchen is fully stocked with all you would need and the apartments are always spotlessly clean. The beds are super comfy and both apartments are nice and spacious. A lovely place to relax and wind down and also only about a 10 minute drive into Athlone town."
"I booked a 5 night stay for a little break with my son but left after 2 nights as the place was disgraceful. The shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold and the owner acted surprised when I told her but having read the other reviews here, one being from 2016 saying the same thing, I can see that she is well aware of the issue and has chosen not to fix it. The shower head is also broken (see picture attached). I could not shower my baby which is unacceptable. The room itself smelled of dog and everything felt itchy and hairy. The website says it's 5 minutes walk to the village but this is very misleading as the village is merely one small shop with no fresh food and there's no cafe or pub or anything! When I pointed this out to the owner she rudely said well, I consider it a village, again I find this unacceptable. There is only one radiator in the room and the tempature seemed to fluctuate on it's own accord so the room was either too hot or really cold and the whole place felt very dark and grim. It is musty and old and you can hear every noise from the upstairs apartment which I see other people have also commented on. I I found Gail the owner very rude and defensive when addressed with these issues. I tried to be considerate but the entire experience was very upsetting, especially with a young child. I would absolutely steer clear and not recommened this place to anyone. Horrible experience."
"This place was fantastic. I stayed in the downstairs apartment and everything was beautifully clean and cozy. Brilliant escape from the madness of life for a few dates. My hosts couldn't do enough for me and the company of their 2 beautiful dogs made it a home from home. The only note I will make is, through no fault of the hosts, but I could hear everything from the apartment upstairs so I would recommend booking the upstairs apartment the next time I visit! Thank you to the perfect hosts"
"Self contained studio type accommodation with parking and garden. Just a little tired and in need of repairs. Sink water pressure was a trickle but shower fine. Was really warm and cosy. Towels provided. Can bring your dog too. Excellent pub with good food within walking distance. If going in winter take a torch as in the country and gets very dark outside. Very reasonable and owners will provide breakfast at additional cost."
