"We've stayed here many times over years. This is a family run hotel that always provides consistent, no frills facikities and service. It ticks the boxes in a hotel. The bed was comfortable, the bar was reasonably stocked, and the breakfast was sufficient. The staff who served us just looked very, very tired. They were friendly and helpful and informative, but no smiles, which is surprising for an Irish hotel. We must have visited them on a bad day. Locally, lots of my family (whom I was visiting) said how good the food was and how often they would eat there, be it for lunch or dinner. I did look at the menu, and it was standard fare and seemed good value. Good points: it has everything you could reasonably need in a hotel, it's nearer to Athlone and the nearby petrol station that had the cheapest priced diesel I'd seen in Ireland. Bad points: it's a mile from the Town centre, which is good if you like walking and the weather's favourable but less helpful in winter. Also, the light bulbs were very dim in the bathrooms."
"One night stop. Welcoming reception. Room was tidy, warm and comfortable but needed updating. Bar/dining area and corridors all very good. Food fabulous."
"Called in after a football match. Granted the place was relatively busy I thought the service was particularly poor. Myself and 3 friends went for a bite to eat. 3 of us were very disappointed with the food and one only found the food to be alright. Due to it being busy we were told there’d be a considerable enough delay of 30-35minute wait for food which we didn’t particular mind due traffic being so busy around the town after the game. In saying that majority of patrons had already received their food. When it came to ordering the man who took the order came across as extremely rude and when asked for a very simple request barked that he could only deal with one thing at a time. The party I was there with then felt extremely uncomfortable at the nature at which we were spoken to. 2 portions of spaghetti carbonara were ordered and one of the bowls was a decent sized portion and one was quiet miserable and considering it was €15 it seemed a high price point for a poor sized portion. Additional to that the pasta was bland and cold. In addition to this the chips weren’t well cooked they were greasy and underdone. There was an additional bowl of chips ordered for €4, the portion and quality was not worth it. You’d get twice the portion, and better quality for less money from Norios in town. There was an additional charge of €1.50 for a jug of Miwadi. This is the first time I’ve seen a charge for miwadi- and shock they weren’t exactly giving you a whole pile of that either. Service poor, food poor and far too expensive for the quality too. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t bother visiting again."
"Plenty parking and a quiet atmosphere for conversations. I only stayed for a quick business meeting but from what I saw it seems like a great hotel. A brochure would have been helpful but I'm told there are some on the way. I'll update the review again."
"Room was basic but nice and clean. Food was brilliant and staff was very helpful and gave all to help with my requests. Would recommend"
