"Regular customer in several M&B shops in the West (notably Bunratty). But unfortunately have noticed an increasingly poor customer service especially in the Clarinbridge store. Frosty and aloof probably best describes my recent experience(s). Was informed rather sharply that I couldn't have some of the branded tissue paper because I was buying sale items for example!!!! Who knew? Given the significant competition that M& B is facing with many (less expensive) competitors, its a huge pity if the business is failed by poor customer service."

"I popped into this store at lunch today to pick up a birthday gift. I chose two small items and paid; while at the till I noticed there was gift wrapping service available; I asked if the gifts could be wrapped; I paid and the agent wrapped one small gift; then before he proceeded to wrap the second gift I was informed by him that I needed to wait for him to serve other customers as the wrapping service was not charged for; I had to wait for other paying customers to be served before he could continue. I was appalled. I immediately informed him I had a meeting that I was rushing to. He still made me wait. I just asked for my gift to be put in a bag and left. I won't be back. At the very least please inform customers that if you ask for the purchase to be wrapped you will have to step aside for every other customer who arrives at the desk. I won't be back."

"I went to this store today and the two staff was a disgrace to retail the way I was spoke to was a paling, I was purchasing stuff that was quite bulky and went to the till to place it up there as it was glass vase ect, I was asked will you be long!! I said excuse me , why.. the lady that worked there now u know her name was MARIA PAYNE, she said the counter is busy, her tone on top of everything else was so rude, I said I'm here to spend money in your store. I was hesitating to leave but u taught no, when I went uo to pay, again she was rushing and I asked could the glass be bubbled wrapped etc everything was a problem, my bill came to €98 and she took my money when a lady came up behind me and give me the change and went to serve the new customer while dealing with me still!! I left the store and went to the car and I was so mad I went back in and asked for a manager, in fairness the manager was lovely and the Maria lady that served me started to back chat to me in front of her boss she was in her 60s! I'm in retail and I explained that if they where to get a mystery shopper they would be a low percentage, I'll never shop in that store again nice stuff but such bad maneryly old cranky igrant rude staff..."
