IMC Cinema Athlone Golden Island, County Westmeath

"Filthy place. No warm water in sinks in bathrooms. Toilets leaking and dirty. No soap in soap dispensers. Paper towel and popcorn on the floor literally everywhere. Empty cardboard boxes in the corridor welcoming saying we don't give a fu** how we look and we use this entrance hallway as stockroom. Very poor snack offers. Staff wearing their own clothes not even looking proffesional. Staff dealing with food not even wearing gloves or any protective clothes. It's like a visit in the cinema from the 80's It's 2023 people."

"Lovely cinema, 3D there isn't the best, with bad depth, but lovely staff and seats, if you want 3D, go to Roscommon. Lovely snacks, drinks, and Screen 1 is great, it's now a recliner screen, but ticket prices for it are dear. Great location, right next to Golden Island. Screen 4 is a wheelchair screen, kids club everyweek and or weekday on Easter Holidays."

"Cold (no heating on, a notice to offer that you postpone if that’s an issue but only when you arrive nothing about that online) and big cardboard boxes covering every hall and walkway, even in the movies below the screens! Just looks old and messy now and for the price it’s hard to recommend. Toilets always disgusting"

"Really want to see this place do well. There's a few issues at the moment. -the projector quality doesn't compete with other Cinemas, its oddly dark and doesn't handle high frame rate scenes well, especially the smaller screens. -last time I saw a movie there in January the speakers broke mid movie, but to be fair they handled it by offering refunds for those who didn't want to go into another screening so that was decently handled. -They weren't serving large Popcorn the last two times I visited which seems bizarre as pop corn is vital to a Cinemas earnings. - also there's big cardboard boxes lined up all through the lobby and they were lined up down the bottom of screen 1 at the time also which just looks bad. To their credit, staff are always friendly and for the most part the last 7/8 years it's been decent, just the last few experiences weren't great, and having seen the projector quality of a different cinema lately it made me realize how poor IMC athlones is in comparison. I hope it improves, its a great location and has so much potential. If anyone from up top in IMC reads this please put some funding into this cinema, especially the projectors."

"Cinema is ideally located right beside Athlone Shopping Centre plenty of Movies to choose from and a shop selling popcorn sweets etc Staff very helpful and Friendly."
