"We recently rented the castle for a weekend for our small wedding and it was an amazing experience. The castle and grounds are stunning. Marie-Therese and all of the staff were incredible and the attention to detail was unmatched. They went above and beyond to make our special day amazing. The food throughout the entire weekend was fantastic. We can’t say enough good things about Glin Castle!"
"I recently found out that Glin Castle is open again and wanted to leave a review (because I hope it does well!). I stayed at Glin a *long* time ago (the summer of 1999). My entire extended family rented it out for 2 weeks. It was probably a dreadful experience for the staff (a large family of New Yorkers w/ screaming toddlers in tow, and one very moody pre-teen, yours truly); but it was the most magical summer of my life (which is rather sad, having been 12, and now being 35, but a testament to Glin nevertheless). Glin Castle is obviously beautiful. But there's something special about it, in an ineffable way that can't be captured by any photos or reviews. We drove all over Ireland that summer (in the grand tradition of Irish-Americans obsessed with their heritage to the point of nuisance), and en route we saw many, many castles. But none of them had quite the same secluded, serene, transporting quality of Glin. Its stunning location on the water sets it apart, but what truly distinguishes it is the fact that it's still a family home, and you can feel this in every room (there's a story behind nearly every detail, which the very friendly, knowledgeable staff was always happy to impart). It's no less formal or gracious than other castles in its league, but it has more character and warmth, and feels qualitatively more intimate: you truly felt that you were "living in a castle" in some bygone era, rather than a guest at a "castle hotel." We were fortunate to be able to spend some time with the late owner, Desmond Fitzgerald, the 29th Knight of Glin, who was a lovely man and probably a tonic for my grandfather in those 2 weeks (they bonded over being outnumbered by very spirited daughters). He would come and chat with us by the fireplace in the drawing room after dinner. Dinner was spent gathered round the immense table in the dining room, with memorably excellent food. I spent the hours in between getting lost in the beautiful gardens, sneaking through hidden doorways, practicing a royal wave whilst gliding down the flying staircase when no one was looking. I first began to create a conscious inner world that summer, made richer and more vivid by my time at Glin. So happy that the castle has stayed in the family, and will hopefully continue to play a special role in the memories of other families for years to come."
"What a beautiful venue. Maire Therese was such a wonderful host with nothing being too much trouble. Would really recommend this castle for a truly unique experience."
"We are just back from spending two days in Glin Castle for a family gathering. It was one of the most wonderful stays in a private residence. The staff, food and attention to details were of the highest standard. I would highly recommend Glin Castle for a personal function."
"Very good day out reasonable price. Only down side the tour groups were far to big. We could barley squeeze into the rooms or hear the guides. The owner was very good when she spoke to our group."
