"We tried two starters, two main courses and a white vine. The quality of food and drinks were amazing. I would love to go there again some time!"
"Fishy Fishy is the quintessential seafood restaurant. It’s just off the main street. It must be a favorite with well-off Cork residents in the off-season. The menu greeted us with surprises (fish you have not heard of-- like red grunard), favorites ( fried haddock and chips) and, if you watched Somebody Feed Phil, something to anticipate (Fishy Fish pie). A made-fresh black, grainy bread (complimentary ) set the tone, drinks were excellent (Blacks gin and tonic and a Negroni) a baked Brie appetizer with tempura crumbs. Everything was beautifully presented, served with patient explanation and a smile and delicious. The fish pie is a chicken pot pie, different fish pieces instead of chicken an no crust. It’s less a pie than a very thick soup. Unique and delicious. The fish and chips (fried haddock on the menu) had the sweetest fillet and a batter that was crispy and creamy at the same time. How do they do that? Fishy Fish is a little on the pricey side but if you want one memory of a meal, the one to remember from your Irish vacation, Fishy Fishy will provide it."
"I really really wanted the negative reviews to be wrong but they were not. We booked a table days ahead, arrived in time, nobody greeted us at the entrance for at least 10 minutes (we are pretty hard to miss with a 7yo and a toddler around). We got seated eventually and no, it was not a busy afternoon. Nobody offered a high chair for the baby even though they did that for a different group. Our waitress was pretty uninvolved, did not tell anything about the food or even the fact that there was an additional menu. She kept staring at our plates while we were eating and it was a bit awkward. We felt a little rushed and unwelcomed but I guess it was standard behaviour. The food was good - not something wow but good and I would go back for the oysters and the fish soup. The sirloin was chewey even though was medium rare. Overall not worth the hype"
"This restaurant is suffering from it reputation. Even with a booking they are overwhelmed. The food was nice, but no nicer than others in town who also do oysters and lobster and scallops. Which are all premium products, I agree, so am not sure what the hype is i.e. simple approach is generally the way. So if I was to review it as a seafood restaurant = it was very nice. Everything was cooked well."
"All the wonderful things you've read are right, I had the lobster and my wife had the salmon, both were absolutely amazing! Perfectly cooked and extremely well seasoned (note, I don't mean tons of seasoning, just that the flavor was fantastic). I only wish the lobster had been bigger! (Not to say at all that it was small for the price, it was bigger than I had hoped, it was just so good!)"
