"I am not a super fast swimmer but I really love swimming at sunrise. Often being the only swimmer on the lake. Your ripples and bubbles disturbing the mirror like stillness. Any worries or problems in my life dissipate in my wake. The course is set by large buoys and approx 450m, so you can do many circuits, checking out the swans and herons as you glide through the water. Yes there is a small amount of pond weed that you occasionally brush into and the lake is reasonably shallow with the softest of mud underfoot but this is the joy of open water swimming. Willen Lake offers a fantastic location. I am hooked so much I have bought a reasonably priced wetsuit in anticipation of cool waters."
