"My husband and I booked an overnight stay in the Dacara b&b Newcastle, County Down on Saturday 9th April 2022. We were very much looking forward to recuperating as we had both been working very hard. Upon arrival to the B&B we were given a scenic beach view room which was beautiful, however I was immediately struck with how cold the room was. There was a heater in the room but it didn't seem to provide alot of heat. Shortly after checking in, we then left to have an evening with family members in the town. Upon arrival back to the B&B we again found the room to be freezing. We poured a night cap but didn't drink it as we wanted to go straight to bed to get some heat into us. I was that cold I got into bed fully clothed. The next morning my husband got up at 9.30am to go down stairs to get breakfast. When he went down he was informed by a lady who we believe managed the B&B that the pans were turned off. John my husband was shocked at this as he has stayed in many hotels and bed and breakfasts over the years and didn't expect breakfast to be finished so early. The lady then said she could have something ready in about twenty minutes which John was agreeable to. John then went for a short walk and came back into the bed and breakfast at around 10.20am. As he was walking up the stairs the same lady shouted up "Are you nearly finished in your room". My husband was in shock at this comment and immediately came to the room and said we should leave as this lady was so rude. I should also point out that checkout wasn't until 11am so we were effectively being told to leave the room a full 40 minutes before checkout. My husband decided to mention who dissatisfied he was with the service provided in the bed and breakfast when we went down stairs to pay for our accommodation. He said I have travelled to many places and have never been spoken to like this. The lady replied by stating she had also travelled to many places but offered no apology for the way she dealt with us. The bed and breakfast was £85 for one night stay. I felt as we weren't able to avail of a breakfast, we would have at least been given some discount from the original price. We left that morning feeling totally deflated. What was supposed to be a relaxing night away turned into a stressful experience for my husband and I. We shall therefore not be returning to the Dacara B&B again."
