Burrendale Hotel, Country Club & Spa 51 Castlewellan Road, Newcastle BT33 0JY

"We stayed at Burrendale for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary. The room was brilliant with a comfy bed, soft pillows, even a little sitting area with electric fire. An amazing bathroom too though the TV didn't work. (not that we needed it tbh) We were in room 25 and there was a loud humming noise which kept hubby awake. Spa wasn't great. Pool was very cold and no loungers to sit and relax. Ladies changing rooms were so clean though. Very close to Newcastle centre which was good."

"After making a booking for 02/04/23 in the top room, as per the website I was advised to call spa separately to book. I contacted the spa to only be told the hotel and spa are currently suffering staff shortages so can’t offer spa treatments on Sundays. God forbid you might actually advise this on your website?! Called the hotel to see if they could do anything to rectify this issue and was told either take a refund or nothing else they were prepared to do. Advised that staffing issues are their problem and not to affect the levels of service you expect from an apparent four star establishment. I advised they should try to offer some form of gesture to resolve but the general manager wasn’t interested. This whole scenario became a bit of a joke when staff member laughed at me and hung up the call, every attempt to call back after they just kept slamming the phone down (again not professional or offering any level of customer service!) apparently I was abusive, but I wasn’t the one who acted like children and couldn’t deal with a customers complaint. I suggest sacking all your staff as they clearly can’t do the job they are employed to do. Avoid this hotel unless you like spending money to be treated like dirt etc…."

"Had a wonderful Valentines night. Dinner was exceptional. Refurbished room was clean and comfortable. Staff from book in to leaving were excellent."

"At bottomless brunch, the staff ignored us, when we asked for more drinks they said okay and then just forgot about us. Manager brought us drinks after 45 minutes and asking 3 other members of staff, and when we asked for another drink we were told “it’s only one per person”, which would be fine if every other table around us didn’t have multiple drinks at their tables! Be consistent with each customer! Would have given zero stars if that was an option! Don’t waste your time or your money here!"

"5 of us went for Spa weekend from the minute we arrived we where made so welcome. The staff throughout our stay where so nice. Food was first class will definitely return. Value for money."
