"Great spot for Sunday lunch. Quite reasonable prices too for families considering that kids under 12 can eat for free. The roast beef was cooked nicely without being overdone and the Yorkshire pudding was suitably moist. There's outside seating when the weather is good and a small but serviceable wine list."
"Lovely setting, not within Cantley House itself, but right next to it. Converted from an old stable the restaurant has lovely original features like the steel stable separators and wooden beams. Had an afternoon tea with free glass of pimms. Food was lovely although our Eton mess had gone off. When we asked for new ones we had an apology from the chef and discounted bill for the soured cream. Very enjoyable experience, reasonably priced, but still pricey at £20 per head for afternoon tea."
"Recently ate here, and was very happy with the quality of the food, the speed and quality of service, and the overall atmosphere and decor of the restaurant. The scallop dish from the a la carte menu was superb. The delicate flavours were perfectly balanced and I felt the portion size was appropriate. The main course of pan seared duck didn’t quite match the level of the starter, but was still very pleasant with the well presented vegetable accompaniments. The 5 spice dressing/sauce suited the other ingredients very well and the salad items were fresh and full of flavour. The dessert was really the star of the show. Although it was very well presented, I was at first underwhelmed with the individual flavours of the Black Forest dessert. BUT, then I started to combine them on the plate and was so incredibly impressed. I can honestly say that it was the best dessert I have had for, probably, a few years. The overall experience was very positive, and I would recommend this restaurant for a wide range of occasions/types of visit. I visited while I was staying in the adjoining Cantley House Hotel on a business trip, but the restaurant would be ideal for a couples visit or for a group of friends."
"Bit of a mixed bag. I went with 3 friends for an afternoon tea treat. We chose Miltons as they offer a vegetarian option; & we couldn't fault the cakes and scones. Unfortunately that's the only good things I could say about it. It took 3 attempts to replace a dirty glass & 2 attempts to replace a dirty plate. My tea was so unpleasant I didn't drink it, and my friend's Assam tea looked like dishwater. My vegetarian sandwiches should have included brie and apple, but looked and tasted remarkably like egg mayo! And I don't know why anyone would think a pickle sandwich is acceptable. Dirty plates from other tables were collected and then left by our table. Two tables that arrived after us were served before us. We were all very disappointed, paying £20 a head I expect more. Adding a 12.5% surcharge was pretty much the final straw. Yes, we did insist they remove it. And obviously no, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone."
"The food was terrible. But service was good at times. Thats why im giving it 2 stars. The caesarsallad had anjovis and the chicken was terrible dry. The sirloin steak was a disaster, no flavor at all..."
