"Update: October 2022 - Quality has definitely dropped since the last visit. The Pear and Walnut pizza comes with dried pear slices rather than fresh and they forgot the walnuts. I was glad that there was a Gluten Free option but it wasn’t great. Felt like a kids pizza (see pic). Won’t go back for pizza. May try the pizza next time Dec 2020: We decided to try the Lapstone with some friends for Saturday lunchtime. We pre-booked a table via facebook. Although there were some free tables, I'd recommend booking. Covid rules were clear and explained on arrival. It felt very covid secure and staff were attentive. We ordered two sharing platters between 4 which also came with a basket of bread (not shown in the pic). This was really nice and had a good, high quality selection of meat and cheeses. The olives and picked onions were really good too. We all ordered different pizzas. The options offer something a little different from the standard pizza options you'd find elsewhere. The pear and walnut pizza was extremely well balanced, surprisingly a bit of a favourite! I'll definitely be having that if we go back. The Norma (aubergine) was also very good but the skin on the aubergine was a little tough. A pizza cutter may have helped with this. We would have liked a bit more chilli. The Lapstone pizza was really nice - slightly overcooked on the bottom but it was really tasty. Due to it being on a plate rather that flat surface, the oil had all pooled in the middle. The crudo e zola was very good with a good combination of gorgonzola and Parma ham. There are some minor improvements I'd like to see. The pizzas are served on regular plates so the oil drizzled on top pools in the middle. The plates and the knives make it difficult to cut. Flat pizza plates and a pizza cutter would have make this easier. Price wise we thought this place was a touch on the expensive side. That was until we'd tried the food. They're using high quality ingredients and it pays off. We're looking forward to coming back in the new year when there are a few more food options available. Pizzas cost ~£3 more to eat in than take away."
"Early evening Christmas meal for four people. Meals pre ordered from the Christmas menu First visit visit organised by our friend.. A lively pub, nicely decorated and a good atmosphere. Kitchen on view which we liked. All staff gave us excellent service. The three courses we had were very nice. Hot food was HOT and well cooked and very enjoyable. Would recommend a visit, we will be returning."
"Been for a roast last Sunday. I'm vegetarian my wife isn't so she had a turkey roast. She said it was tasty, especially the Yorkshire pudding. I ordered the establishment's Nut Roast for myself. She's been begging me for months to go try the roast here, so we went. First, it was a 'Not' roast. There wasn't a sign of the nut roast it anywhere- instead it was replaced by a very bland veggie burger patty, as the nut roast ran out. Normally, I wouldn't mind a replacement of any item, however I was not told this prior to ordering nor when the food was delivered. At least the expectation would have been managed. But this was a big disappointment. We've been to this establishment before and enjoyed other items from the menu and the staff is always very friendly. However, this item just let it all down. It's not just the replacement, but how it was done and why it was even thought an acceptable replacement for a Sunday Roast!"
"A unique venue .... Pub.... coffee shop selling italian gelato, pizzeria and Eden Project style dining pods. Food choice is a little limited but we loved the shared starter and the rib eye special was cooked well. Limoncello shots on the house as a birthday treat .... Many Thanks"
"Beautifully renovated and truly a great result, after what seemed to be an age. This is a lovely place to come and enjoy great food and drinks, but beware it isn't cheap. That said, for a special occasion it's likely to be very suitable. Good sized car park and nicely landscaped garden. Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended."
