"A surreal breakfast experience overall. My friend and I were accosted and dragged in from the street by the proprietor, which was the first warning sign. The place looked traditional and old fashioned, but like they might know their way around s fry-up. When we sat down and took a look at the breakfast menu and the extortionate prices, my gut told me to stand up and leave, but we stayed the course all the same. The £11 full English was mediocre in places and terrible in others (i.e. the mushy sausages). The £2.50 tea really pushed me over the edge though, being served in one of those tall glasses that coffee shops used for lattes back in 2003... and it was weak and disgusting to boot. Truly a crime against tea. While we were sitting, 2 other groups came in, sat down, changed their minds and left. That was a first for me, but good for them. Beyond that the staff were apathetic, the only toilet was up 3 flights of steep stairs and had no functioning toilet seat or paper and the door was held open by a fire extinguisher. Insane - can't recommend."
"Called in for Breakfast on a Saturday morning beginning of December. Sat outside as a lovely day. Very nice spot, lovely food very tasty and reality fair value. I left all full up, there’s a lot to be said for that. Very clean and fresh inside lovely staff and nice surroundings…."
"Darcy’s used to be my late grandparents they were the original owners. I spent time as a child laying tables and sitting on the back step in the kitchen watching my grandma cook. My sister and I have never visited it even though we are still in the area until recently we both went to look at it and was shown around by Jerry. I booked and last night we visited. Oh the memories!! We went with some friends and Jerry was wonderful and attentive. The food was good, my cod and chips was just like my grandma used to do in breadcrumbs delicious! The restaurant is old fashioned but that’s the charm so many are now so super cool it was actually really wonderful to step back in time and almost feel abroad in a little hidden treasure. We all said we will definitely come back with other groups of friends. I’m sorry I left it so long to visit maybe afraid of the memories but not anymore. Thank you again Jerry for making our evening so perfect."
"I loved the atmosphere of this fish restaurant in The Lanes. Sitting outside in the shade, I enjoyed the fish casserole which was beautifully fresh and tasty. My husband, not a lover of seafood, enjoyed chicken Milanese. We arrived early for lunch but by the time we left the outside seats were all occupied and it was filling up inside. The service was good and, with a glass or two of Pinot Grigio, we enjoyed a memorable meal."
"Walking along Market Street (in the lanes) came upon this quaint little restaurant. Bit of History for ya:. 13th century fisherman's cottage apt as it's located in the oldest part of the Lanes... (As per D'Arcy's pamphlet) Food was very tastey; I had the muscles with garlic bread. Wine, Castillo del Moro crisp not to dry or sweet... Desert; panna cotta. Lovely meal, took the long way round (walk to digest) home. Oh and the waiter was very friendly. Toilet Facilities: Unisex not my fav type of facilities. Located up two flights of steep stairs (13th century) bit puffed out when I got to the top. However, there was toilet paper, soap & hot water... And they were relatively clean, could do with a refurbishment (just my opinion)."
